looking for a new fixed blade

Ok two part question my current carry knife is a combat elite S.O.B I love that knife but It's just a bit to big and scares the sheeples. So I need a new knife I've been looking at a SOG seal pup but I've heard mixed reviews about the sheathes on em. also i'm worried about mounting options mainly if I can mount it horizontal in the small of my back? at this point the sog's at the top of the pack. also I'd like some alternate opinions here's some specs of what I'm looking for
length:up to 5"
blade profile: tanto or dagger grind would be great but anything is ok
needs to be a partial serration
blade steel:not really partial to anything long as it holds an edge and is semi easy to resharpen
sheath:kydex preferably with a horizontal carry option

5" TOTAL length? might be hard to come across with serrations. if you mean up to 5" blade, some of the ontarios might work.

SOG NorthWest Ranger. Great knife, sheath is basic leather though!
I put mine into a Smith & Wesson sheath & gave away the knife.

Take a look at the Knifemakers' "Fixed Blades for Sale" forum. If you look around, you can probably find a damn nice, hand made knife in the size you're looking for, at a nice price.

The SOG is a great knife.If you go to the SOG forum there is much discussion on the sheaths.There are custom sheath makers that make fine replacment sheaths.If I was you I would buy a Seal pup(there powder coated) and order a sheath from Eric at on scene tactical. My 2 cents worth

anyone have any pictures of the front and back of the SOG kydex sheath? the pics on SOG's sight don't give much detail as to the carry options

Well I decided to go with the seal pup and went with patrick's suggestion of getting a new sheath from on scene tactical. Bit more than I wanted to spend but you get what you pay for right?
