Hi, I've decided lately that I need a new knife because my Vantage Pro (which I love) is a little too heavy, and always seems to scare people when I
flick it out.
I'm looking for a smooth opening (not necessarily quick, this isn't a self defense knife)less than 100$ knife that has around a 3" blade or a little smaller with preferably S30V steel, but any good steel will do.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I carry a Buck Folding Bucklite Max (Medium) in my flightsuit for daily use. It serves me well, it set me back less than $30 at a local sporting goods store, and it is made in the USA (thats a requirement for any knife I carry).

Maybe a little less knife than you were expecting, but I would give it a try. I am a firm believer that you don't have to pay through the nose for a good product. Do research and read reviews. I did, and this is the knife I bought.

An S30V Kershaw Leek is a very nice offering fo what you're describing. It's light, thin, 3" long, and is usually considered a gent's knife so relatively Sheeple friendly. There's also the Spyderco Delica as an option or a Mini Griptilian. Both come in under 3" and the Delica has VG10 while the Griptilian has 154CM.

How about the Spyderco Chapparal? Under 3" blade, carbon fiber scales, S30V and about $100. Or its older brother the Sage 1.

You could also look at the Spyderco Native actually, I almost forgot about those.

Did you consider the benchmade 707? Just about 3 inches, opens very smoothly. About $100. 154cm is decent steel.

Spyderco Sage - Carbon fiber and S30V steel for under $100 bucks.

If your looking for something not to scare people...and have safe cutting techniques I say go with a case knife or a spyderco cricket, dodo, dragonfly, manbug, sage 3....lor a kershaw chive look them up I have all those for my edc line up n no one is scared in public

I love my Vantage Pro too! You could look at the bucklite max, I think they have 420hc steel, which is very good from Buck. There's also the Spyderco Native s30v for about $50, but those look kinda tacticool, I also feel like most Spydercos look just as frightening as a Buck Vantage (those look pretty tame by modern standards) except for maybe the brightly colored Delica 4 FFGs... you could look at those. If you really don't want to scare people, why not try out a nice slipjoint? Buck has several USA slipjoints from $20 to $30 you could try out, while Case has nicer F&F for $30 up to whatever you are willing to pay.
