Well im just curious what you guys think im in the market for a new fixed blade that is comfortable for edc use and tough enough to withstand the abuse i may put through it being an army infantryman im tired of breaking my 50 dollars knives currently im eyeing the strider ebl-s and the microtech crosshair. Both of those knives have under a 5in blade and a kyndex sheath that i can easily transfer from my belt and attach to my kit with molle straps and thats what im looking for. of the 2 which would u choose or maybe you have another choice that fits my criteria thanks for the help. Oh and the budget is at or under 450 which i could have the strider for about 400 and the cosshair for 250ish

And also i do know that i could find something in the hundred dollar range but i also want a nice quality knife that i can be proud of

Fixed blade that you cannot break ? Busse (Or Swamp Rat or Scrapyard) comes to mind. Check out their sub-forums on here.
Also the DPX HEFT 4" and 6" models are nice and very sturdy. Zero Tolerance 0100 or 0170 would be another great option.

As a serviceman you might want to read up about Striders ehm history before buying from them. Just saying.

Thats a great looking blade but its almost got a 6in blade and the sheath look like it hangs down real low and clips around the leg i like the style sheaths that set fairly high on the belt and easily attach to my kit

Thanks for that info knowing that now i will not be buying any of his products that really makes me angry now
Although im still in a dilema though the strider is removed from the equation but now the busse sob is in the running

Lots of good deals on the exchange here. You could get a Fallkniven F1 or S1 new and get or a make a custom kydex sheath so you can strap it to your molle and still probably be under $250.

Check out Bark River Knife and Tool (BRKT). They've got some great options in CPM 3v. If you break one of their knives in 3v.....You'd have broken anything.

Also, make sure to check out Grayman's options. They make some awesome heavy use knives.

Just curious... how are you breaking these knives? Maybe it's a different tool you need? But if it's a sturdy knife you want, maybe look at a Ka-Bar Becker BK-17. Good knife and not too expensive if you break it or it gets 'borrowed.'

Good luck! :)

Well lol lets say im usually not nice to these knives and i have used them for things they were not intended for i had the gerber bear grylls knive the large one with the lil spark thing that was cool for a while but a bit to large for carry that one was hammered into a wall (it did have the flat end for batoning it) and stepped on to get over a wall in a little mount training village. had a cheap ka bar that i picked up off cl that got partially ran over by a bradley and snapped into 2 peices
Also had a nice black hawk knife that i picked up used from a utg that i had to wire tie the grips on it after throwing at a tree but like i said i know that i have misused some of my knives and i plan to change my ways lol speacily with a nice knife that i can be proud of and hopefully keep for quite a while

Have you looked into any of the ESEE Knives? They are made as a hard use downed pilots survival knive. The blade on the ESEE 5 is 5.25 inches. i know a little bigger than you want but it has a .25" thick blade as well as a kydex sheath and molle clips can be bought for it.

Ahh i gotcha. Yeah not all knives are for everyone! Thats why they make so many! Hope you find one you like!

Check out Swamp Rat Knife Works
The Ratmandu is very well respected in the 5 inch range . You can choose your blade finish and handle.
Lifetime warranty, you break it (good luck with that) they replace it.

You will have to get a sheath separately. Many of the Kydex benders here on BF have this knife so you wont have to send it in for fitting.

EDIT: If you are looking for something more compact and corrosion resistant, the Fallkniven S1 is no slouch. Its a lot of knife in a smaller package. They are very tough and hold a good edge.

You went straight to the top and won't be disappointed. INFI is a well rounded steel and can be very addicting. Most people just can't stop at one.
Be sure to post pics when you get it.

Yes i cant quite say that im addicted to quality blades but i have a feeling it may happen i have a large sebenza 21 but for me its not a very practical edc knife

Does anyone have first hand experience on how long it takes to receive a knife from busse i understang the websight says 4 to 12 weeks and they are made to order but just curious
