Looking for a new Knife

Hows everyone doing? Ive gotten the itch for a new knife and am looking for something very specific. I ll be starting college in the fall and Im prohibited from carrying anything over a 2 in. blade. Well nothing in my collection fits that describtion so Im looking to change that.

Heres the requirements:

-2in or shorter blade
-Aus 8 or better
-Prefer non-natural handles(ie no wood, horn, etc)
-sub $100

Lock doesnt matter too much, but Im not a big fan of liner locks. I have a feeling though that Im not going to find much else in this size. Any help would be appreciated.

PS I seriously doubt that Im going to end up in a situation where they will measure the blad length, so up to 2 & 3/8" is probably acceptable.

Spyderco Kiwi, with stainless steel handles.

VG10 blade.

Handle one, and you will be amazed at how "big" a little blade can be.

Spyderco Dragonfly is only 5/16" over the limit. Think they'd notice?
You could also do a little grinding to make it legal. Either take a little off the spine/tip to shorten it or put a quasi choil at the back edge of the blade to reduce the cutting edge by 5/16".

Or you could go Spyderco Dodo (a hair over in length). Blue grip is the friendly way to go.

At work I now carry a Fallkniven U2 due to the possible restrictions (length is arbitrary on who I ask). No "ooh"s yet.

The short blade/ample handle segment of the market is currently Spyderco's terrain (in locking knives, anyway). Lots of good choices.

Emerson La Griffe.. $99

Blade length: 1.75
Overall Length: 4.50
Blade Steel: 154cm
Blade Thickness: .125
Hardness: 57-59RC
Sheath: Kydex

can be carried around the neck also, if I ever find myself at a college where they enforce the knife rule I will be using that.

I was thinking about the U2 actually, but was thinking about the sandwiched steel. Im probably going to leave my sharpmaker at home, so it needs to keep an edge for 1-2 months without sharpening. I dont really have much experience with powdered steel so that made me a bit leary.

I do like the kiwis quite a bit. Ive always been a fan of wharncliff blades, so that seems right up my alley.

All good suggestions so far. Keep them coming, it ll probably be a week or so before I order it.
