i'm not a big fan of handles made or look of natural materials. i'm looking for a good quality fixed blade to have with me most of the time that can handle almost anything. it'll need to be good for camping, fishing, hunting, and to just have on me on a daily basis, you know, "just in case" any suggestions would be great

Ontario RAT 3 will fill the bill. If a bigger knife is desired, the RAT 5 is great.

try swamp rat m6. great Warranty, life time..

here is a pic of the m6 from the swamprat website

Wow where to start......RAT5 is good, Rat 3 might be a bit small, SRKW M6 is good, Ranger 6, Scrapyard 6, Dozier KS-7 is a good one. Do you have any price limits? The warranty on the scrapyard and SRKW M6 are out of this world, but they dont have natural handle materials. Do you want a convex or flat ground blade? Gaurd or no Gaurd? Leather or Kydex, Any particular settl you like? When you answer those questions to what you want you'll have narrowed your list but dont restrict yourself to it. I love my Swamprats and my Scrapyard but they are not always the best slicers, My Dozier KS-7 is a fantastic slicer but doesnt have the heft of the before mentioned. I like the RAT-5 in D2. Swing by the makers area, guys over there are always puttin out stuff that fits what you are asking for and usually for reasonable prices. Cold Steel is pretty good stuff I am just not a big fan of the handles.
