Good morning everyone as the camping season steadily approaches i have been getting my gear together. I am now looking to add a multi-tool for my everyday camping fishing tasks.

After much research I have narrowed my choices to 2 MT's

Victorinox and the Leatherman charge tti

Any recommendations, thoughts, or opinions ?

I've always had good luck with the leatherman been carrying them since 1996 I like the warranty and I like the service. I have two compaints the small screwdriver tip always bends and breaks. I have the old leatherman Supertool and I also have a Wave, same story on both tools. It would be nice if they hardened those blades. The second complaint is the wire cutters bend when I use them to cut things I probably should not (barbed wire). I wish they would also harden these. Once again maybe they do on the newer ones.

I never liked the Gerber because the handles come together and I have gotten more blood blisters from them pinching may hands than I can mention. I do have a Gerber and felt obligated to use it after it was given as a gift, after the appropriate amount of use I gave it to another friend as a gift. (share the love)

Not sure about the Victronix never even held one. Sorry couldn't be more help.

I love my leatherman charge, can't think of a thing to complain. Fitment is perfect, ergo is comfy, no blister or anything.

My opinion is that both are awesome and simply among the very best you could find today, so just decide whether you prefer having one-handed opening on the main tools or all the tools accessible without opening the handles.

I own both a Vic spirit and the Charge TTI. They are both great tools you would do well with either. I fine the spirit a easier to carry that the charge. The wave gives you a clip point blade that would be very handy on a camping trip more so than the blunt serrated blade on the spirit imho. Oh yeah leatherman products seem to rust easier than victorinox tools.

they've all got their cons and pros, if you could "hold" and handle them that would really help you.

I would suggest checking out the "Multitool" section here for more info and thoughts ;)

I have the Charge, and it is a fine tool. For me, it is too big. I prefer the Skeletool. I find that if I have the Skeletool, I leave the Charge at home. The Charge does have more features, and will do more, but the pocket clip on the Skeletool makes it much less likely to snag.

Just my .03

I find the Vic to be about the best multitool. I keep the Swiss Tool RS in the truck. It has a large blade, curved serrated blade, saw and scissors as well as all the regular tools. I really like the fact that it has long screw drivers and no little bits to carry around with it. Plus eveything opens from the outside without having to open the plyers.

I know you said the charge tti but I would like to add the leatherman wave as "stainless" mentioned. I camp and fish alot, the leatherman wave does everything I need it to do. And I believe is cheaper than the charge, however they are virtually the same. I'd go with a leatherman for sure.
