I'm looking for some type of multi-tool right now. It's going to be for light-medium use, and has to be fairly lightweight (able to carry in pocket).

I'm looking at SAKs and the Leatherman Juices right now; I like the design of the Juice (pliers) but have no idea as to how sturdy it is. Should I look at any other multi-tools?

Any recommendations?

Thnx.

What tools do you need on it?

For a slim comfortable carry, the Pulse is really nice. I doesn't have the externally accressible tools like the Juice line, but rides easier in the pocket than my Juice CS4, IMHO.

I love my Juice, but wear it on my belt because of the shape.

I'd say the Pulse or the Gerber 400 from the info you've given. Are these just for general purpose or do you have a specific task in mind? ie. are you a plumber, electrician etc etc?

The SOG Paratool is pretty compact and I can't seen to kill mine.

Had it a long time and I am very pleased with it.

Good luck in your search.

If you plan on using it in your job Gerber has some specialized tools designed for specific things...hope that helps...

I carry a Leatherman Clipit
It has pliers wire cutters/ knife, phillips, 3 straight scredrivers, bottle, can opener.
But the plus is the narrow and lightweight ness of it.
I clip it to my pocket every morning.
Good Luck
Jack

The Gerber Multiplier 400 (Compact Sport) is kind of heavy and bulky for carrying free in a pocket. The plier head sticks out of the end, and can open and close slightly even in the tool's closed position. A decent tool, but I carry it in the belt sheath.

I really like the Spyderco Spyderench. I don't think that it's probably as heavy duty as my Gerber but I do love the adjustable wrench. You can pick the screw driver bits that you want to carry, in case you work with torx all day or something. And I do like that it clips in you pocket also.

Buzz or any other Juice owners: Do you ever wish that the Juice had locking tools, like say the screwdrivers? The CS4 seems like it has everything I want, scissors, saw, knife, pliers, corkscrew, but no lock mechanism.

I like the Juice line a lot. Locking tools are nice, but I haven't folded up a tool yet. Others have.

Costco has a Juice not available other places, the Pro. If you have a membership there, go look at it. Great price. Great tool. Good sheath.

I like the slipjoint approach of the Juice much better than the older non-locking style Leatherman tools. I have used the phillips screwriver quiet a bit, and it hasn't folded over on me yet. That's a big difference in comparison to my PST screwdrivers. I like it. No, it's no fully locking, but almost as good.

I think that you'll like the Juice. The Juice, unlike the Squirt, has pretty strong springs holding the tools open.
Good luck,
Matt
