I am looking for a "tactical" non locking folder as a completely legal over here carry option.

Needs to have a non locking high end steel blade of sub 3" length and preferably titanium handles and a clip.

Lefthanded preferd but not essential.

I would rather have a hard to open/close action so there is some reistance to acciidental closing rather than one handed opening.

Anyone here do such a thing or no someone who does please?

Slipjoint folder, but I doubt you will find a tactical version, they are more traditional in design.

I assumed it would need to be a slip joint

Some one must do modern versions???

Do an ebay or a google search for a friction folder or try a Douk Douk or an Openiel (sp?). I have a old japanese friction folder that I got from ebay for 26 + shipping and it is great.

Are friction folders not very big in comparison to theri blade size?

Most opinel's lock i'm afraid

How about a Spyderco Pride. It does not have Titanium handles but it does meet most of your other requirements. From Spyderco's web site :

Similar in function to traditional pocketknives of the turn of the century, the 2 1/4"(57mm) blade opens with a click and offers 10-20 pounds of resistance to closing. All resemblance to old-timer penknives ends there as the Pride blade has a modern modified-skinning shape. The blade comes paired with a handle of brushed aluminum that has an embedded cloisonne' enamel flag. Aptly named, the Pride is a showpiece of patriotism and available with flags from different countries. It is in the works for Spyderco to offer special order Pride models with personalized cloisonne`s representing company and group logos. Handgrips in the handle offer ergonomic comfort and manipulation over the blade while cutting. A framed 3-screw clip positions the folder for tip-down carry. A creative gift-item, show your nationalistic pride and collect them all.

How does the douk-douk fold? it does not look like a slip joint?

I had a spyderco pride thanks SAK but there is very little resistance before it starts to close.

I was hopeing that their would be a custom maker round here making something like this

Bagman,

How frustrating it must be to have such limitations on what you can carry over there. You have my sympathy.

I actually carry a small sebenza every day but want a completely legal one just in case.

Thr friction folder is just what is says. There are no springs or bearings. The only thing that holds the knife open or closed is the friction of the handles on the blade. It is normally made by taking a piece of steel and folding it in half the long way. The blade is then inserted between the two sides and a pivot installed. The pivot is then tightened until it opens easily but friction keeps it from falling open. On some like this Greco

There is a piece that sticks out along the backstrap that helps to lock the blade open and also helps to open the knife. Good luck
