Looking for a particular knife

I'm looking for a particular pattern of knife, that's proving hard to find. I'd like a mini-trapper frame, with clip and pen blades, in carbon steel. Case made some 6207s with a pen blade until around 1970. GEC made the#48 with those blades, and Queen made that style too. All of these are pretty rare, and when I do find one, they go for double (or more) what a current Case would cost. Are there any options I've missed? Other makers who currently produce this pattern? Options like modify a blade? The current Case mini trapper's Clip blade would go great with a small wharncliffe as secondary, and the large spey blade could be ground down to that shape (and I could do it), but it would require making a new nail nick, (which I can't do), so I would have to pay someone to do the work, thus negating any cost advantage.

Case makes mini trappers with wharncliffe secondaries. They use a "W" at the end to dinsitnguish it. Example model # 6207W.

Looks to me like the wharncliffe would be very easy to modify into a pen.

This Schrade USA 33OT isn't quite the mini trapper frame you're looking for, but other than that I think it checks a lot of the boxes - clip and pen, carbon blades, similar size to a mini trapper. They can still be found for a reasonable price.

That does look like a good option, but even modified, I think the secondary would be close to the size of the main.
I need the secondary to be small. I use my knife in customer's offices, and you would be surprised what they consider a "big" knife.

All very true. I have been leaning away from that one, for 2 reasons. Swinden key construction, and I'm not crazy about the shape of the main blade.
However, they are nice knives. I imagine the main could be reshaped into a wharncliffe pretty easily, somehow it doesn't seem to "fit" that knife though.

Someone who can expertly modify the wharnie to a pen should be able to put in a new nail nick. Visualize the pen dropping before the nail nick on the wharnie, then a new nail nick.

Or, maybe just try the wharnie for a while and see if it grows on you.

Either way, enjoy what you end up with!

Do you know anyone who does such work?

The Case Peanut has a clip/pen combo, comes in CV, and features the most useful tiny pen blade I've ever worked with. (Compared to, say, the vanishingly small pen blade on a Victorinox Classic, when I'm using the pen blade on my Peanut, I actually feel like I can get stuff done.) The relative size difference between the clip and pen, and the absolute size of the pen, are two things I really like about the nut.

Not a Trapper, but apart from that it ticks your boxes. :)

A member of the Peanut "cult". He's right, you'll love it! (Come on in, the water's fine)! ;) :D

Well, you're right, except for the size, that's exactly what I want. Being that the GEC Beagle was just issued, I was able to get one, and while it's not a peanut, it's a fine little knife.
I haven't warmed up to it, it's just too small. I know they both can do plenty, in fact, most anything I would need from a pocket knife, it just feels too tiny.

Ok, thanks for the info!

Have you looked at the Case 220 Medium Jack (3 3/8") or the 077 Small Texas Jack (3 5/8") ? Not exactly the frame you want, but one of these might be a reasonable compromise.
