I'm not totally certain this is the right place for this as the knife in question is fairly modern, but if memory serves me right it is either a slipjoint itself, or a piece by a maker known for slippies - and who knows slippies better than the traditional crowd?
If it needs moving, mods, by all means.
On to the knife then. I've been googling and searching various forums and facebook pages for a while now and, other than finding some nice new makers who made my wallet cry, have not been particularly productive.
Blade profile is on the spear-leaf end of the spectrum, rather than a drop or a clip say. Steel has been treated (not coated) to a very dark grey, bordering on black. Presumably an etch or a bluing type chemical. I think all of the hardware has been treated the same way, but I am going off a memory of a single photo and I do look at an awful lot of knives
Pivot pin is of the large variety, being almost as wide as the end of the scales.
The scales are bright orange, obviously not a natural material. I'm thinking G10 or micarta. It might have black/darkened liners, but I'm not certain on that.
I think, though can't be certain, that it's an American maker. Almost certain it's a slipjoint, but there's a slim chance it's a locker.
I know that's not much to go on, and it's fairly vague, but if you've any idea where I might've seen this photo, or who the maker may be, you would be rescuing me from what is becoming a headache of a task. I had hoped it might've been in the "modern traditionals" thread, but I've just reached the last page and no joy. This thread may prove as fruitless given it's a long shot anyone will know the knife I've done a mediocre job of describing but, as they say, if you don't ask...
More to follow.
