can someone give me a rundown of some current production folders with s30v? something in the retail price of 0-250 dollars i guess which i think would translate to around 150 street price thanks

The only PRODUCTION folders I know of with s30v are the sebenzas (retail and street are $300 to $350 and up), and the Benchmade 921 (retail $190) and not yet in full production.

The Spyderco paramilitary, coming out later this fall, is supposed to be in S30v as well.

Honestly, I can't think of any others.

Customs, now that's another matter entirely..

Regards,

Cerdic

forgot to mention i thought of those too already, the sebenza is out of the price range and the 921 doesn't really strike me, the handle is nice, but the blade shape i don't like, and the secondary blade is pretty useless for cutting, might be good for picking at something

You may just be in for a wait, then. Since S30V is a new steel, it takes a while for manufacturers to evaluate it and to add it to their product line if they think it's worth-while. Sal at Spyderco has made some favorable comments on S30V and indicated that it may be found in future knives, but it's going to take some time. Right now, you don't have much else to choose from.

Manji. for pretty much the price you are talking about, $250, Mike Obenauf will make one of his extra small folders (under 3") for you. A.T. Barr also works in S30V, and he will make smaller, unembellished knives out of S30V for under $400. I had a Mnandi in S30V until and unfortunate accident, and think that S30V is great stuff. BTW, the BM 921 is available, I just picked one up last Thursday.

My Strider AR is S30V, and I saw an ad recently for Microtech LCC's that are S30V. However, the ad I saw also stated that these LCC's have titanium bolsters, so it sounds like a limited run to me.

Yesterday I received my highly anticipated pre-production Benchmade 921. It's a goog looking folder, very slim and very smooth, but I was not too impressed. The quality is typical of Benchmade, but it's just not my style of folder. As much as I like the look of this knife, it's just not me so I'll probably end up trading it.

Lone Wolf Knives has one folder that is a Brian Tighe design that they are selling that they say is S30V. It is a "Tighe Pan" with a spear point blade.

Most manufacturers are getting the feel of how to heat treat the product and developing models for the use of S30V. You'll start seeing them in the next 2 or 3 months. For now there isn't much, as others have mentioned.

yah i was thinking about just waiting since the steel is still pretty new, and it'll probably be cheaper that way anyways since i just ordered an MT amphibian

I am sure that you will start to see more models in the next little while. It would be my guess that there will be quite a few new models in S30V introduced at the next SHOT Show in February. That seems to be when a lot of companies introduce many new models.
