Looking for a quality assisted-opener for a friend. Steel in the upper ranges. You guys know what I mean, S30V, D2, 154CM, ATS-34, etc. No 440A or even AUS-8A, please.

I know of the Kershaw Boa (used to have one), which might be the winner. Don't want a recurve but the Boa's is very slight.

Thanks for any help

Well, the ZT0300 series is as high end a production AO as you're going to get.

The Spec Bump is very cool.

The Blue/Green bumps are amazing to me.

The offset is massive, but pretty cool. I'm not sure how you feel about MIM 440C.

The high end of AOs seem to get bigger and bigger.

Avalanche is best so far. No recurves, please, and the ZT0400 is just too "tactical" looking. Also, knife needs to have a plain blade avialable.

Maybe a quality "flipper" would work also. The reason for this request is that he has arthritis and using a thumb stud is somewhat painful for him.

Thanks much

ill second the ZT 0300 series from kershaw.

He won't like the blade colors but you did make me think of the 200's. That's a possiblity since it has a flipper.

Anyone that's has a ZT model, can you say if the flipper works well? Meaning, is the knife easy to open and one doesn't have to almost "flick" one's hand "off" to get the knife to open?

Another thanks

Unfortunately, all ZTs are recurves (well, I love recurves, but you know what I mean).

Hmm...AOs with non recurved blade..

Maybe a Camillus Cuda max?

The G10/S30V Leek seems to fit the bill, what do you think of those? (I've got one I really enjoy. In my pocket as I type, as a matter of fact).

Forgot to add, the flipper is nice and easy. It doesn't need the slightest bit of hand movement to help it out. Just squeeze the flipper.

Good one....forgot about this guy....thanks !!!!!

I have a Dominator, and it is a super knife. I was a little hesitant when I ordered it because some reported QC issues, but mine is perfect. The Robo mechanism and how it is fitted inside the frame is amazing.

Maybe I'm easy to please , but to me it's about as good as you can get in a production knife. I feel the same way about Benchmade...

I can also recommend the Avalanche, it approximately the same size as the regular Blur , but made very well for it's price and the G10 is the rough type.

How much do you want to spend? I would recommend a DDR Gunhammer in an EDC blade if you got the change. Otherwise camillus has some fine knives that are assisted.
