Bowie in wood box, "H H Buck" banner and gold etch of what looks like a blacksmith shop.
New or old? Common or uncommon? Any idea of how many made?
Couldn't find any info on a quick search. Thanks in advance.

This one? Until I locate my 1988 catalog and do a better scan, this screenshot will have to do.

It was in the 1988 catalog. The Special Projects lists says there were 1500 made and numbered XXXX/1500. The etch is by Aurum.

I need to take a better photo of this one. As Dave posted 1500 makes them common in my book. The 903 bowie is a very large knife and with the gold on the blade it a very nice Buck knife! Blades guide has value at $200.

Thanks guys. I just got back home. It's under my stewardship now for a few decades......:)
It's my first bowie and one big knife, even alongside a Frontiersman. Tough knife to get a quickie picture of.

The guard has keepers, thingies to catch an opponent's blade, I see.

Beautiful and huge gold work. Hoyt probably never saw or dreamed of such fancy work to follow his own I figure.

Great acquisition. Congratulations and thank you kindly for sharing.

It looks like original MSRP was $354 in 1988. No increase in collector value even after 24 years.....:o
I buy them because I like them.

$200? Really?

You know, I've seen 110s go on some random auction site for more than that. Heck, I've seen early Buck fixed blades go for more than that.

To my mind? I'm thinkin' that, to the right buyer, it's worth way more than the "book value" of $200.

That's just me, of course, but if I were shopping for one and managed to snag it for a mere $200 I would consider I'd done well.
