I'm having a lot of trouble getting quotes for double disk grinding. I have 150 ~5.5" CPM154 blades that need to be double disk ground to 0.125" thickness.

I've had 3 or 4 people refer me to NiftyBar but I've only been able to get one response out of them in the last ~45 days so even if they do respond I wouldn't mind having a backup for when I try to kick the business into full gear.

Thanks for reading

Please.
What is double disc grinding ? Would it be surface grinding on both sides of a blade?
Frank

Yes, simultaneous grinding of both sides of a part. It's cheaper and produces flatter parts than surface grinding but requires fixtures to hold the parts

here is one kind of double disk machine:

I haven't yet but I will. Have you worked with them before?

Very, very interesting to see a 5 axis grinding shop specifically working with knifemakers

I forget his name but there is a guy on youtube who may have posted here in the past that has a large surface grinder with a rotating table and coolant. I think one of those would be cheaper and quicker as no jig would be needed and you could do quite a few knives in one go. No idea what one costs or who you could call that would have one though.

sounds like a blanchard grinder to me. From what I understand they aren't precise enough for this sort of thing unfortunately.
