Hello All,

I have about $30 max to spend on a sharpener. Any Suggestions? Also which sites to get the best prices?

Great choice. Watch the video closely and you'll be very happy with edge you get.

was just about to suggest the sharpmaker when i clicked on the thread but then again you have already got it. Becareful not to let the tip slip of the rods cause they will get blunt and dull...

I use the flats and rotate the knife downward as I drag it down the stone. I've been able to keep my tips "pin prick" sharp this way, and restore others that had been rounded.

Regards,

NP

I have problems with the tips too...I have seen pictures of holding the knife like a pen while sharpening. Maybe that helps. Only use the flats when sharpening though.

My $.02:
Follow their instruction to the letter, go slowly, and practice on a few beaters until you get the feel of it. Remember, corners then flats. Grays then whites.
A quick tip for speeding up bevel reprofiling is to tape rough grit paper to the stones. I did mine much like a sanding block and taped the far side, sat them in the channels and reprofiled with no problem. Best of luck.
