Hehe- No, Marvin the Martian isn't having a garage sale.

Wired.com reports an Australian special-effects house has discovered a long-forgotten cache of prop rayguns built for the movie industry down there back in the 60s or so.
These are "steam-punk" weapons, all mechanical-y and pretty cool. They are being auctioned for some 600.00 each.

Those are fantastic !!! But in nearby Oz there was a very recent incident where a man was arrested and charged with carrying a "firearm". He had a replica raygun which he was taking to a Star Wars convension !!!...But thosr ray guns are worth every bit of $600 and I'll bet they work well for those 1000 lb hogs in the news !

I remember seeing these at the New York Comicon. These are not old. They are brand new being designed by the Weta company. I got a chance to talk to them when I was there. Neat stuff...but too expensive for a wall-hanger in my opinion.

No no no. Weta is a New Zealand special effects house. It's like getting Canada and the US confused guys. Pay attention at the back!
