Hello,
I just purchased a Maxpediton Mega Rollypoly and it comes a decent leg strap but that is not how I plan on using it. I am hiking into the Grand Canyon next month and the plan is to dayhike out from a central camp. I plan on bringing my Camelbak MULE with the Rollypoly attached to the bit of MOLLE strapping in case we decide to do an overnighter and I have to bring my sleeping bag/mat. This setup works great, except if the leg strap were about 4" longer, then I could use it as a waist strap and carry almost anything in the Rollypoly (I'll post pics of the setup in use next month).

I'm looking for a simple 1.5" web belt with the plastic buckle sewn on (just like a Maxpedition leg strap, but longer). I need something that will fold up into the Rollypoly when not in use, so I can't use a Wilderness belt or similar heavy duty outdoor belt. Any recommendations on where I can find one?

Here a consideration...go to www.rainshed.com and order some webbing and a fastex buckle and make your own. Simple, fast and inexpensive.

If you can't sew the loop yourself then find a tent repair shop, or any upholstery shop.

An aside, but that's a 3L reservoir, right? Hiking in that terrain and dry heat, it's all about water, water, water.

Correct. The Rollypoly will also allow me to bring my 40 oz. Guyot for a total of 140oz. That's the plan for any hike longer than a few miles.

^^^ EZ solution. :D

BTW, I had to make up 32 12"x1.5" nylon webbing belts with a cinch clip. Not life dependent, just for holding athlete's sneakers in a rowing barge.

I didn't sew them: I melted the two opposed areas of the webbing looping the clip and when molten I pressed them together. Welded tight.

Worked just fine.
