I've been doing some looking around and I'm not sure that such a thing exists.

I'm hoping for a folder with a ~1.5" blade and a ~3" handle.

There seems to be a few fixed blades that are close to this size (or at least these proportions), but no folders.

Examples of fixed blades:
Bark River Mikro Canadian II (1.75 blade, 3.25 handle)

Legal just about everywhere, solid as a rock.

CRKT Lumabiner! If you like that style of knife. GOOD LUCK! Kevin

How about a box cutter? Long handle, short blade, blade retracts for pocketing the knife.

How about one of the smaller Spyderco's like the Lava with a 1 7/8" blade?

The Lava is the only thing I found that even comes close, but I'm not too fond of its style.

I checked out that website and only saw fixed blades? In any case, I'm sure a custom would cost more than I'm willing to spend, but thanks for the suggestion.

My requirements are purely asthetic, so a box-cutter is a no-go.

Thank you for a suggestion that does fullfill my criteria, but it's not what I'm looking for.

Aright, maybe I should have just done this in the first place. This picture is what prompted me to create this thread. Perhaps the angle is decieving and makes the handle look bigger than it is, but I think this knife looks awsome:

one could purchase a inexpensive fixed blade, say a Kabar and cut it down to a little snub nosed fixie........

For that short of a blade, you might be better served by finding a knife that has been "tipped" (the end snapped off) and then reprofiling and shaping what is left of the blade.

I did this with a Benchmade 710 (I had acces to a grinder and a belt sander at the time, so it wasn't so bad). The owner needed a blade no longer than 2 inches due job policies and he had bought the knife cheaply at a flea market. Seemed to work well, since he liked it enough to actually use it.

If you can find a Spyderco Dodo or a Yojimbo that would work. A lot of Spyderco's have these short blade/ big handle ratios.

You might also look into a Strider PT. With the finger choil, the cutting edge is very short.

Sounds like a George Washington Pearl Pen Knife in proportions. However, it is a delicate PEN knife, but if that is OK, Google it and take a look.
