ok here is the deal I work construction and always have carried a sak in on pocket and a one handed opener in the other. But have always been hard on my knives and now have decided to try a fixed blade but want it to be a little smaller. I had a buck night hawk and that was a little too big any suggestions and I was hoping to keep it in th $50 and under but am willing to go either way a little bit.- Joel

Rat Cutlery Izula is a good bet. Small enough for pocket carry, works as a neck knife, you just hook a carbiner to the front of the sheath and dangle it on your belt loop. At 0.15" thick and of 1095 steel it will take a hell of a beating and when paracord wrapped it is comfortable to hold. All that for $50!

if i were you id save a little while and pony up the money for a RAt rc-3 if you break it then it gets replaced for free that alone is worth the added moolah also they are just amazing knives. i carry an old ontario version with me everywhere and its never failed me yet. you can probably find one for about 80 bucks.

Don't own an Izula, but many say it is a great knife. And I believe them.

The BK11 is one I can say works. As posted in another thread.

Feel like pounding it through a 2x4 on site? Go ahead. It will take it.:)

The RAT Izula would be a great choice as already stated. I also like the Becker "Necker" as an option.

One that I would look into would be the Buck Kaala; its around $65.00 on-line. Its S30V steel and a Tom Mayo design. Its a good knife and the stainless would be a plus for a work knife.

do you guys have a mesurment on the izula? although it is smaller it looks a little shorter than Im looking for and do thoes come with a sheath? The neck thing isint really an option for me. Idealy the blade would be 3 1/2 to 4 inches. not trying to be picky just not too familiar with the fixed blades. Ive had a couple of cord wrapped handles and wasnt in love with them do they offer a more regular handle? - thanks for all the replies rat had never crossed my mind nor had the bk11 thanks for the options!!!!! - Joel

The BK11 has a 3.25" blade. You can get the KaBar TDI belt clip for about $7 that will screw on to the sheath. Kabar is supposed to be releasing aftermarket micarta scales shortly.

I believe the RAT Izula has scales available already? And from what I have seen online it has a far more adaptable sheath.

hey I just saw a rat rc 4? and it looked sweet!!! anyone know how big thoes babies are? Id spend the extra cash for that knife!!!!

As i suggested earlier go for the 3 its a bit more pocketa ble and a better slicer. if your pockets are deep enough tho the rc-4 is a hell of a knife

anybody got a link where they would suggest I get one of these babies, I like the 3 in orange!!!! a lot.

i have had nothing but the best of results with the company knives ship free. they are very highly regarded on the rat subforum as well. also they are priced fairly competetivleyonce shipping is faactored in and they are shipped very expediantly also they make leather sheaths which i love all my rat except the izula i have bought so far have had the leather sheath because its so nice.

Does any one have a pic of the BK11 and the Izula? Or pic's of other similar sized knives.
Thanks.
