I’m looking for a small folder with a blade around 2.5" give or take. I’m on a budget of about $50-$65. I've been looking around but nothing is really catching my eye. I open to any suggestions.

spydie calypso jr...

vg-10, nice lock, great construction....best of all its $40.

Calypso Jr. is nice, don't forget the Spydie Dragonfly (2") & Spydie Wayne Goddard Jr. (2.75"). Of the three I have preferred the Goddard, but it's harder to find & may cost more than $65 if you can fnd one (sweet micarta handle tho). CRKT has the small point guard too (2.75"), steel's not great (AUS6) but that doesn't matter too much on a small knife. It's hard to find a decent one-hander with a 2.5" blade, I used to live in Chicago where that's the limit and I spent years looking. CRKT will be coming out with the E-lock, which has a 2.75" blade (AUS8) I think.

I've got a couple spydies and they work great. The one that gets used the most is a Jess Horn with stainless handles that my wife ordered from AG Russell.

What type of folder are you looking for? Tactical, gents, locking, slip joint? Your price range limits you, but there are still a lot of choices. Check out A.G. Russell's site www.agrussell.com

PWork asks a good question. Are you wanting something more upscale? A workhorse? Something with a lock? Slipjoint? Here are my recommendations:

Gent knife- Spyderco Kiwi (albeit a bit more expensive), Al Mar Osprey, Al Mar Havana Clipper, Benchmade Benchmite

Work knife- Spyderco Mouse (would be perfect), Spyderco Calypso Jr, Kabar/Dozier folding hunter (~25 bucks, great bargain, but around 3"), Beretta small folder, Spyderco Standard (if you can find one cheap, not easy), Spyderco Dyad Jr, Spyderco Merlin, Schrade Spitfire (if you can find one cheap)

Slipjoint- almost infinite possibilities due to how inexpensive alot of slipjoints are: Spyderco Pride, Buck Cadet or large stockman, Schrade Oldtimers...etc, etc.
