1. Burt Foster, his hamon are about as good as they get, and he has serious time invested with W2....

2. AND do you plan on contributing anything, at all, any time soon, or are you simply here to solicit input?

Come on, Steven, give the kid a break. I've got the feeling that Hirokatsu is just a kid that likes knives and has found this forum. If I'm wrong, maybe Hirokatsu will correct me, but I don't know anyone else who would want a "headband forged from Damascus" per his 11-23-06 post. Most of us are just big kids who like knives. It's true he has posted 28 times asking for input on a myriad of subjects, but have you considered that in his mind he is contributing to the board with these posts?

Don....am not going to "give the kid a break". Asked a question....the answer to that question determines if I am going to add my 5th entry into the "ignore" list. You can use that feature as well, if you find my posts to be not valuable.

To answer your question....no, I don't find think that he finds his posts to be valuable simply for existing.....I am the anti-Kumbaya Forumite.:grumpy:

Steven:
On the contrary, you are obviously very knowledgeable and I find most of your posts "valuable".
I would never put you on my Ignore List.... I'm thinking about putting you on my Buddy List.

I am curious. Say a person is new to knives and wants to use this forum to learn from knowledgeable people like you. He has no custom knives yet to post pictures of yet; is not on a first name basis with named makers. What can this person do to "contribute" to this forum? If he has questions, should he not post them or just "lurk' quietly?

I haven't posted much to this board, and don't know if you considered these posts contributing. But I enjoy this forum and will continue to learn from it.
Am I not worthy of this forum?

Peace
Don

Maybe the information he learns from asking these questions will enable him to contribute to the board in the future?

The thing with hirokatsu is, he asks a question and never replies to the posts on the threads he starts.

He is a drive-by poster.......

dondford, I try to welcome all to the Forums, but at some point....all should give something back, as well as take. If it is only a one way street, there would be no discussion or conversation. If people stay with it, they get their custom knives/knife, and they get to know the makers. Even a post saying..."I saw this knife on dealer x's site, and it looks really cool, I like the blue handle material" is SOMETHING of a contribution.

It is not a matter of people being "worthy", it IS a matter of people being active.

hirokatsu posted this exact same thread on another forum,
additionally stating knifemaker X was who he wanted to make it for him but knifemaker X was too booked at present.
knifemaker X responded to him in the thread to PM/Email him.

So it sounds like he's getting his knife.
