Howdy folks, glad I found a forum with a ton of people who are knowledgeable when it comes to blades. For a few years I went though the typical BS knifes, (Gerbers, etc), then I went to my CRKT's, which I really like due to their flippers and their low cost for what you get. But I'm ready to move to a Benchmade. I'd like to get the 556 Mini Griptilian... specifically one with the blue handles (556-BLU) and with a black blade with a thumb stud. I wouldn't mind the sheepsfoot in black with blue handles if I could find that too...
Is such a combo possible WITHOUT going though the build-your-own-griptilian feature on Benchmade's site?
The only thing that would make me order through BM's site is that I am considering getting one with D2 steel instead of the 154CM... What are the pro's or con's for this? I've read quite a few posts on it, but haven't gotten much real experiences on D2...
It will be my secondary EDC more than likely, with my primary being used for the harder use stuff. This knife will most likely be used for cutting the tape on boxes, and general EDC. This knife will be used more for cutting finer cuts where a sharp knife is critical.
Is there a place to buy separate 556 handles for a not-too-outrageous price?
Thank you for your input folks, I will continue to enjoy looking though this site!
