It would have matte/brushed finished blades, black scales (g10 or something similar), and no bolster

Has anyone ever seen anything like that?

i'd love to know what it was. I had one as a teenager and lost it. No clue whether it's possible to get one again

Case makes a Barehead Slimline Trapper, Black G-10, it’s not bolster less but could be close if it was a single blade.

What you're talking about is called a "shadow" pattern knife. Case didn't make many shadow pattern knives outside of sodbusters. I've seen a precious few in bone. I've never seen a shadow pattern Case trapper, but that's hardly definitive. I doubt it was in G10 or any modern material, but they did used to make knives with black composite handle scales back in the day. If you really did have a Case made shadow black composite trapper, I'd wager that that's a very rare knife and hard to find. I'm no historian though. I'm also unaware of such a knife from any other production company, but again, that's not definitive.

If you're that interested in getting one, look into a custom maker. Names like Alsdorf, Menefee, and Hampton spring immediately to mind. They can do a shadow pattern in black micarta or G10, and since shadow patterns are easier/cheaper to make than bolstered knives, they won't cost quite as much.

Case carbon fiber bolster-less trappers can be found currently. I think they may have done some black zytel bolster-less trappers recently, too. I'm not aware of any bolster-less G-10 or derlin trappers made in recent times.

It looked just like that, but in BLACK. It wasn't G10, it was Zytel. I never knew that

has anyone ever seen one of these in black?

I love the look of the CF ones, but i'm looking for the one i used to have for nostalgia reasons
