Looking for a specific Folder

- Price under 100.- Dollars
- Less than 2" Blade
- easy to clean/dissasemble

I got a Spyderco Meerkat as my momentary EDC knife and I really love it. Problem is you can't "really" clean it since theres no chance to dissamble it for cleaning purpose (and knives do get dirty when due to EDC). Reason for it: The phantom lock.

Got any ideas which knife might fit my liking?

How about a Benchmade 310 Benchmite?...It's blade is under 2", the knife can be taken apart for cleaning, and eventho' it's been DC'd by Benchmade, there are still some around to buy.

Welcome to Bladeforums!!!
Does it have to be a folder?? How about a Bark River Mikro Canadian??

I think there is a new Chinese Red Class Benchmite available now.

How about a Cricket?

You know what is an excellent little blade....a Wegner(Blade-Tech) mouse, exactly what you're looking for.

Take a look at the Spyderco Navigator. It is nearly identical to the Meercat, except for the materials and lock design.

vicmon, welcome to Bladeforums.

You should post a new thread, preferably in our Gadgets & Gear subforum, rather than piggy-backing on someone else's thread on a different topic.

what about spyderco dodo? looks good, is quite small, BUT like almost all spydercos there are pins instead of screws :s
BUT the lock specificely on dodo should be self-cleaning so you wouldn't have to clean it so often

or if you could stand 3" blade, then I would suggest camillus cuda edc

I really like my FRN Dragonfly. Its blade is longer than 2", but so are the Navigator's and the Meerkat's.

No, the Meerkat has a 2" blade, I just measured it, 5cm (2" = 5.08cm).
Not sure about the Navigator, ergo my question in the 2nd post.
The Navigator III is for sure longer than 2" and thats the only knife where I would make an exception because of the beautiful design.

Nothing to do with legality, thats correct. Just wanted to have a nice small/handy edc knife.
I just did some reading and searching on the internet and came to the conclusion that a 3" blade is still acceptable for comfortable carrying.

I'm sure that the Dragonfly would be considered small and handy by anyone - maybe there's a place near you where you can fondle one? It's an awesome small folder.

Spyderco Dodo has a sub 2" blade(might be exactly 2" depending on how you measure) is fully ambidextrous, and can be disassembled very easily for cleaning.

Done it several times, but the lock itself needs minimal cleaning, due to it's open construction, it basically cleans itself.

I'd go for the Fallkniven P Folder. You can find it on several sites around the 'net for less than $100. No pocket clip, though. Light, exceptionally well made, maybe the best blade grind on the market, good steel and heat treatment, and beautiful as well. Blade around 3".

What do you guys think of an Eickhorn Gentleman 1?
Just saw one for around 20.- Euro on ebay.

vC,
I just went and looked at the Eickhorn, nice looking folder. No clip, but does come with a chain. I like the wood inserts. Let us know if you pick one up.

Got the Eickhorn today (without inlays). Very nice, even my boss is considering to get one due to the perfect balance between knife and gentlemans-toy.
Easy to clean to thanks to the line-lock and open-frame design.

Still looking for a spyderco knife though. Dodo seems to be a good idea. Any spyderco knifes with the same lock or a line-lock?
