I know that this is going to seem pretty persnickety. The kind of requirements that drive folks that have some machinist ability and knowledge of metallurgy to take up knife making to make their own knife that doesn't exist anywhere on the planet. (The folder that comes closest that I can think of is Rick Hinderers XM-18 but that folder has acquired a cult following which makes acquisition at almost any price beyond the fiscal capabilities of most mortals.)
But here goes. I looking for a folder that has the following characteristics:
Blade: 3-3.5 inch, flat grind (or saber grind as a distant second choice), non-serrated simple drop point of good steel. A thumb rest on the back of the blade is nice as is a Spidy-hole opener though a thumb stud is acceptable. No flippers or assisted opening do-dads. No tiger stripes. Beefie pivot that is readily maintained (not proprietary requiring special tools).
Handle: Ergonomic shaped titanium frame-lock (monolock); opposite scale Ti backed G10. Scales flat. Pocket clip either interchangeable (tip up or tip down) or fixed tip down. Open frame construction with only barrel spacers between scales.
Good quality control and good customer relations are critical.
Not to be considered (first two Ive owned): Sebenza dont care for hollow grind blade. Strider SnG (or any other Strider folder) questionable quality control, proprietary pivot - and I wont say anything more that might elicit negative responses from the Strider faithful.
