I recall in the 80s my grandparents had these tiny little slip joints; as small, or smaller than the A.G Russell ultimate pen knife. Most had some marketing logo, cheap plastic handles, "rivet sytle" compressed pivot construction, typically a bail...and frankly they were cheap keychain toys. But I lost every single one I was gifted as a kid...and they were really enjoyable back then.

Nostalgia has me interesting in finding a few, especially any tied to the Kentucky or West Virginia Appalachians.

This may be a long shot, but any idea on what these are called or somewhere that specializes in them?

As always, thanks for your help; ya'll are amongst the very best subs on BF.

Key chain fob knife, They were made by several makers including Hammer Brand.

Shell handled knives; big makers were Imperial (Hammer was another Imperial brand at that time), Colonial, and Providence are a few that come to mind. Search for them on the auction sites or ask for one in the classifieds - someone is bound to have a few - I see them in collectible shops frequently. OH

Sweet thx guys. Just bought a couple of $10 fleabag pieces from the 1940s. A Hammer and Imperial.

If only the rest of my collection desires were so easy on the budget!

If you search for Advertising Knife you'll find literally hundreds of those.

I wanted some plain ones to start; I plan on honing in on some regional pieces of interest once I get a little time with the designs and construction that looked nice.

(And I'm saving for a house). :)
