I'm searching for a stockman with a 3" blade, 1095 or D2, mother of pearl or stag handles and square bolsters. Everything I see from GEC has rounded bolsters. Queen has one that's close. It's called the jumbo stockman but the blade is 3.5", it must be huge. The next Queen down in size has rounded bolsters. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Anybody have the Queen jumbo and how do you like it?

Can't help with the pearl but you might like the Eye Brand stockman in stag:

It's 4.25" closed and the master blade of 1095 carbon steel is 3" to the plunge line/choil.

I can attest to the Eye Brand stockman as being a good one also. It doesn't whimper when threatened with work.

That's what I'm talking about. Eye brand just might be the ticket. I know I've been very happy with a German made Indian Head I have which is similar. The blades snap open like a whip but aren't nail breakers either.

Queen #49. Round about 4.25" closed, square bolsters, D2. Well made, but plan on some quality time with your sharpening kit.

I'm leaning toward the eye brand but I'm a little concerned about the size. I know I initially said I wanted a 3" blade but I really meant 2.75" or 3.75" closed. Measurement error. This is based off the Indian Head I currently have. Everything I'm finding is 3.25" to 3.5" or 4.25" closed. I really don't want to go smaller then 3.75". How does the 4.25" carry in the pocket? That's a large folder. I'd be willing to put up with a little annoyance if it's worth it, and I'm thinking it is. Help push be over.

Personally, a 4.25" knife doesn't carry well horizontally ..... for me anyway. YMMV. However if you can keep it vertical, next to either a wallet or a bunched up bandana, it'll carry quite a bit more comfortably. Depends on the weight somewhat too, but vertical is the way to go for a knife of that length, IMO. (Depends on what pants you wear, too.)

Having said all that, you may also adjust to it riding horizontally in the bottom of your pocket - you'll know it's there at first, but as you get used to it you may not even notice it anymore. ;)

How's that for pushing??? :D

I agree with your comments. I've always carried larger folders in my back pocket and that works well. Good push.

Anything larger than my 3-7/8" stockmen are carried in an open holster type belt sheath. The wallet or bandana didn't work for me. The holster makes them very accessible. That Eye stag stockman is drop dead gorgeous.

Mooremaker 5300 has the square bolsters. 2 1/2 inch blade in 1095 if you can live with that, and yellow bone.
I also have the Queen # 9 and although it has round bolsters it's a pretty stout knife. Blade is 3 inches. I prefer square bolsters also, but it doesn't stop me from getting round ones.
