I'm having a baby boy in about 5-6 weeks and I am looking for a diaper bag that does not have flowers and stuff like that on it (that includes camo).

I do not want to spend the money on something that I will only use for a couple of years. I would like to use it as a range bag or BOB afterwards.

I like the maxpedition attache and am not crazy about the blackhawk bag.
what can anyone with "Baby Experience" recommend?

Thanks

I have a feeling you won't have to spend a dime on one since your woman will more than likely have a "Baby Shower". What part of the South are you from HogsFeet?;)

Nestle makes a black diaper backpack that looks very tactical and the inside is waterproofed. It has plenty of pockets and mesh netting to hold all your diapers and blades. My youngest is three now and BTDT.

My wife and I had twins 2 years ago and recently we had to upgrade our Tactial Diaper Bag (TDB) because of all the stuff we had to carry around. I was also was tired of the poor quality and design of most of the cheap diaper bags I've seen and used. We bought a Maxpedition Monsoon gearslinger http://www.1sks.com/store/maxpedition-monsoon-gearslinger.html and we couldn't be happier. The single shoulder strap makes it easier for me to pick up the kids and it's very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. It's spendy, but very well made and, very attractive, at least to my eyes...

Make sure it has a compartment to carry an extra bottle or two. The baby wipes can stay in the main compartment with the diapers.

Option 1:
CountyComm EOD Utility Bag
http://www.countycomm.com/minebag.htm
My favorite - can go anywhere - not too big, not too small. Gave mine to a friend and am ordering another one. Fairly low key

Option 2: Maxpedition Gearslinger Monsoon
Great sling backpack - especially for extended outings. Think daytrips like going to the zoo, playground, etc. A little more high profile. It has room for a camelback.

Option 3: Lands End Diaper Bag in Black.
Because sometimes you DO NOT want to appear tactikewl. I once walked into a gun/knife show with that bag and they did not search it. The cop at the door just said, "Baby stuff?" I AM NOT suggesting you try to smuggle something past a security point. I am saying that sometimes you might want to fly under the radar. If I had of been carrying the EOD or Monsoon, they would have gotten a thorough inspection.

You'll need to pickup a waterproof insert to put milk and food in at first. You'll probably use the thing longer than you imagine. My son is almost 5 and I still need a bag when we go on outings. It doesn't carry diapers for him anymore, but things like drinks, extra clothes, shoes, toys, bug repellant, suntan lotion, cups, silverware, etc. all need to be carried.

Here's another one that even calls itself a Diaper Bag -- the "Davar" from Jandd. http://www.jandd.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=FDB

The Davar Diaper Bag has a large main compartment, perfect for clothing, diapers, even toys! The front of the bag features a pull-out changing table (removable for odd requirements) and vinyl zippered pouch for separating messy items. Two elasticized mesh side pockets provide a convenient place for transporting bottles. The Davar also has three carrying options: the top webbing handle, the comfortable shoulder sling, or for hands-free carrying, the padded shoulder straps, which can be tucked away in the back of the bag.

my wife and i use the craftsmen bags that came with a drill set... they workk great..... that after we have spent hundreds on regular diaper bags

It's a baby. There's naturally suppose to be flowers or ducks or teddy bears on it. The kids coming out of the womb into this crazy world and the poor little baby can't have a little piece of babyism goo goo stuff instead of the macho "sniper" or "ninja" theme??????? Christ! It's a little baby. MEN!!!!:p

How about a macho bag with some velcro to attach some duck and puupy patches to it while the baby is little, then switch to trucks and tigers when he gets older and then catchy bumper sticker like slogans for when he is older like me?

Seriously, thanks for the input everyone, I really like the stuff you showed me. Now I just have to decide! I'll let you know what I choose.

Thanks!!!:)

Geez, dont get the kid a teddybear either, just get it a trophy mount grizzly head and later on you can just hang it on the wall.

The kid already has a few teddybears, tons of toys, dozens of cute little outfits, and I will be buying the obligatory little baseball glove and or football.;)

I might get a nice Buck fixed blade in case we run in to any bears. That way I can kill it myself and get a cool story out of it at the same time!

Great replys, keep them coming!

Thanks again
:)

I went the other route. I carried a pink plastic one, with teddy bears on it.

I tell you show up at the day care at the gym during the mid morning and all the Mom's think your just the greatest guy around. I heard comments like " My husband would never change a diaper let alone carry that bag" quite often.;)

Now thats a tactial bag !!!
