something to replace my Izula

the thick blade just doesnt work for me anymore. But would like something about the same size with less belly as well

First thought is the A.G. Russell Woodswalker, though that might be a bit smaller than the Izula. At least you can choose between a kydex neck sheath or a leather pocket sheath.

Check out the Moki Banff. Don't own it, but it fits your criteria.

Great Eastern Cutlery also is making some fixed blades of similar proportion.

I didn't like the handle much in comparison to the Izula, but the Bark River Bravo Necker I briefly had last year had a thin convex grind. I think the blade stock was only slightly thinner than the Izzy though. If not the Bravo Necker, there's probably some other little Barkie that could fit the bill. Not sure on the stock thickness, but the Fallkniven WM1 also comes to mind...

If you can find one, perhaps a Spyderco Swick 2? Leaf-shaped blade with a reasonably thin edge/fine tip, 3mm stock.

Less belly and a slicer? Sounds like a wharncliffe may fit the bill. Both the Meyerco Wharning (which I own and love) and the CRKT Dogfish (which I've only handled) would do nicely.

I'm wearing the BRKT Lil' Bird and Trout right now and it popped right to mind- 1/16"12C27, 3" blade. I've carried mine and it is a great all around user.

You may also want to look around for the Mini-Pendelton Hunter by Cold Steel- it is a great little necker.

I don't know how available they are- I have been out of the new market for a while.

Going along the lines of the CS Pendelton, maybe an AG Woodswalker. Thats a thin, short slicer for sure :) but not as "beefy" as the BRKT

Have you looked at the Blind Horse Tiger knapp? Bark River mini TUSK? How big of a handle do you want? Bark River IMP, Fiddleback Runt?

Moki Banff looks good but would like a choil/guard to prevent slippage

Pendleton a bit to thick and belly

Bark river tend to be to thick....although the bird and trout looks good it is still lacking a guard/choil

Have you looked at the Bravo Necker and Bravo Nekcker 2 from Bark River? They have them at knives ship free. I have the Bravo Necker which is the smaller one it's a great slicer, I didn't like the kydex sheath that came with mine, but they have a small leather sheath for it now and it looks nice. They also have small pocket sheaths that should work. I recommend getting the micarta handles for it also they are very comfortable.

murray carter is considerably more than an izula, but its what comes to mind given the title

+1

A hand forged neck knife by Murray Carter, the best slicers you can get. The knives are simply designed to be the best cutting knives possible with ease of maintenance, edge geometry, blade retention, sharpness, and durability in mind.
