Looking for a Tibetan singing bowl.

I got several off ebay couple years back
they seemed to be real 'used' ones from what I can tell

new ones are also available
shop around to see how prices run before buying
you can get -very- nice used ones
often for less than some sellers brand new ones

Some websites offer an individual tone sample from each bowl
honesty depends on site

there are hammered ones & lathed/spun ones
the spun finish is more predictable handling
but the hammered have more character [you knew that:) ]

from my limited experience
some of the hammered ones require a bit more learning
to get the speed & pressure right to avoid chatter

Several websites sell singing bowls.

Sorry, but no seller recommendations
but here's a good place to start:

Astro, I used to have the website Uncle Bill always used to recommend for such items but I lost it in the big crash and reinstall.:(
Perhaps Yangdu will notice and chime in or perhaps an email to her asking about the website Uncle Bill recommended would get you the info. Of course someone who may have saved it may post it later.

Since you asked. Here are websites from my dear friend Steve Brothers. He lives in Kathmandu, Nepal. Most of his wares are in Kansas USA. I wholeheartedly recommend him as being honest, knowledgeable and extremely fair. Smoking fast shipping.

He is one of the very few people I can say this about.

Higher end products. Most of the pieces marked "sold" came to me, recently.

i get mine from a nice lady i've met at folk fests, she and her buy are in VT, and don't have a web presence to speak of, just email/phone. you can call them, and if you get them, they'll help you out, prices - amazing, especially in person - these are heavy - shipping kills. i've gotten simply HUGE bowls, and the cost was like $40? i've seen a bowl that you can hold in your hands sell locally for $90, but they sold it for $30. heh. drop me a line if you want their info - i'm not going to spam the net with it without their go ahead (plus you need the secret name to pass along :>)
