This is my first post and I'm sorry if my question seems silly or is in the wrong place. I'm interested in carrying a tracker's knife horizontally across my belt behind me. As cheesy as it sounds, I saw Chris Pratt doing it in the Jurassic World movie. Where can I find this knife? Every thing on eBay is overseas which is not happening. Thank you gentlemen.

Try amazon. Tom brown tracker on there for $200.... a bit steep for.production in my book but each to his own.

What exactly is a "trapper's knife". The Tops Tom Brown? Many knives will allow for horizontal carry.
I'm not trying to be an ass.

What I picture for a trackers knife is something along the lines of a 4 or 5 blade "camp" knife with a spear point main blade, punch, can opener, flat blade screwdriver/cap lifter combo, and maybe a 5th saw blade. (a pen blade could be an alternative to the punch or flat screwdriver)

Isn't what the OP is referring to called a scout carry? You can get a nice knife and have a custom sheath made for it to carry that way. I think a more practical means is the Bark River Mini Fox River that can be carried cross draw. That way, you can still carry it behind, if you want, but it will be canted so the knife will not drop out so easily.

First of all..welcome to the forums. Are you asking about the knife the actor wore in the movie, or about the Tom Brown Tracker knife itself, or for a knife which may be worn horizontally?

Tom Brown Tracker knives from what Ive seen, tend to run around 200 to 240. If you are wanting a knife to wear horizontally, you could try becker, esee, bark river, condor, and other tops knives besides the tracker. Ive done quite a bit of tracking and scouting in my life, and typically as a "trackers" knife I go with an esee 5, bk2, or a condor crotalus. Usually the knife is piggybacked by a folding knife such as a kabar mule. The best advice I can give would be to look at and hold in and a number of different knives, see what to you feels the best, and have a sheath made. Also, I will recommend 1055 or 1095 carbon steel

If you want a sheath made, I hear good things of Hedgehog leather and of Godspeed Tactical. Typically, esee knives come with great sheaths, and they can be worn horizontally. The bk2's sheath isnt bad at all.

Seems like you're looking for the Jurassic World knife and not the Tom Brown Tracker from The Hunted.

You can't find it anywhere, it's a custom by Steve Auvenshine with a sheath by Dragon Leatherworks.

Thanks everyone. I am, indeed, looking for a knife similar to what was used in the movie. I am aware that was a custom job. Ive decided to start looking for a nice small knife and having a sheath made for it, since I can't find the perfect knife/sheath combo.

I haven't seen the movie. But are there any photos/screenshots of the knife in use? Its hard to tell from that image, but id say its a 4-5in blade, with an overall length of 9-10 inches. The handle is some sort of wood with brass pins, and the sheath looks like it does its retention by friction.

Finding a knife similar to that shouldn't be too hard (depending on how close you want it to look), but the sheath will likely have to be custom.

I'd say look at bark rivers line of knives , and see if any of them strike your fancy. Many of them have a vaguely similar look.

Also, for much less money, condor makes basic wood handled knives (bushlore, kephart, basic 4/5), that all run roughly $35 and come with decent leather sheathes (although, not scout carry like that).

Anyway, good luck on the search :D.

The handle of the knife looks like figured maple, the type sometimes called a "flamed" or "tiger striped" pattern. As for scout carry, it's of course possible to get a custom leather sheath once you have the knife, but quite a few knives come standard with - or have the option of - a Kydex sheath with holes spaced to accept a Tek-Lok or similar clip attachment for horizontal or vertical belt carry. Sure, it wouldn't have the traditional look of leather, but for versatility, it's nice. I have a Camillus Barbarian that came with a Tek-Lok, and I know that some Boker knives do as well, as well as other brands that slip my mind at the moment.

How about a Winkler II belt knife? It comes with a leather/kydex hybrid sheath that can be carried scout or vertical.
