Looking for a traditional

I've decided to get my first real traditional.
After being exposed to different varieties of modern folders I feel like I'm missing something very heavy and significant in the knife world.
I felt that a traditional was just what I needed.
A few specs:
Small. Not extremely small (I.e. Peanut). To put the size into Spyderco perspective, somewhere around a Dragonfly, about 5 - 6 1/2"
Simple carbon steel blade. I want to get something that feels and cuts like a traditional. Being able to easily resharpen is also a plus.
No more then two blades. (Trapper, Jack)
Stag or Amber bone scales.
No more than 60$

Pretty tough specs. to follow, but hopefully it's not too limiting.

Alright, thanks,
Alex.

Get a case swayback jack. Sounds like it fits what your looking for....welcome to the addiction :D

Case knives make a lot of good patterns in your price range.Look for ones in CV if you want some really nice carbon steel. I only have 2 Case knives, but they are both in CV and extremely easy to sharpen.

I'm aware of some of GEC's knives, and I'll have to check out Case.
Pocketedge, I'm not too impressed with the main blade on that one. kind of chunky.

Thanks guys, keep em' coming.

Go over to collectorknives.net or agrussell.com both are paid forum dealers with so many knives on their sites its not funny.

I found the Case Amber Bone trapper design that I like.

The Rockwell is 54-57,
Isn't that a bit low, even for simple carbon steels?

Over on Collector Knives they have a Queen Jack that just comes in under your price point.

Case generally uses two metals for their knives. One is the Tru-Sharp surgical steel, which is Stainless. The other is Chrome Vanadium (often seen as CV), which is their carbon steel. The CV blades seem to be the more popular on this board. I have both, and prefer the CV.

So, to answer your question.... No, it's not too soft. Sharpens good and fairly easy, holds and edge, that's what you really need.
