I know it is a long discontinued model, but I seem to have developed an extraordinary DESIRE to possess this model. Hey Unknown VT, are you out there? Can you point me in the right direction? I consider you the End All, Be All Man when it comes to Victorinox Knowledge! :D

I have tried eBay searches for this model for several weeks now, to no avail. What is it going to take, besides CASH? :confused: Anybody got one they want to part with, preferably Mint or close to it? Would it help if I said it was my "Dying Wish?" Ok, so it's NOT my dying wish, I just N E E D one! :)
 
I think your best bets are to check eBay, and to try to find people in Europe - eg: Germany, Switzerland who'd be willing to be on the lookout in stores for forgotten stock.

The Victorinox Scientist was imported to the USA until sometime around the mid-90's - but it was still made, and available overseas.

My friend Paul Elsener (brother of the current owner of Victorinox) located the last 10 Scientists available on his computer inventory about 16 months ago.

The model #'s are sometimes useful for searching (and confirming) the model.

Thanks for the information Vincent. I knew if anyone here had anything helpful it would be you! :) Let's just say I WILL find one of these at some point, I am determined and willing to pay probably more than a Sane person would to acquire this knife :eek: . Of course, no one said anything about being Sane! :p As a matter of fact, I will post right here that if anyone can locate a Scientist model MINT in the box, I will pay them a $50 finder's fee, plus whatever it takes to get the knife. Nuff said!
 
Anyone still interested in the scientist?
I have located 4 and have procured 2 for myself.
All are new in box, some have some fingerprints on the knife from handling and inspection, never used, sharpened, and never cleaned for that matter either. A dealer was clearing out his stock.

Just wondering...

Why are people interested in the Scientist specifically? Is it soley because it's no longer being manufactured?
 
Magnifying glass, three screwdrivers, pen plus the regular assortment of SAK tools in a pretty small package...seems like a very practical combo to me.
 
I will go back to the dealer and see how many he has left. Even if no one else wants them, these SAKs are definite keepers....

I will post a pic of the knives when I get them so that you guys can see the condition they (and their boxes) are in.... You guys can decide then.

I would surely be interested in a couple of Scientist SAK. I have indeed added one to my collection, but it sure would not hurt my feelings to add a backup or two! Keep us informed! Thanks! - Kevin

Anybody still have one of these for sale? I'd like to get one, if only to keep in my pocket to write the occasional check and stuff with.
