Looking for a Waved EDC

After getting my P'Kal, I am in love with the wave feature. I could have never imagine a faster deployment than a wave. Currently looking at the Endura 4 Wave and the Emereson CQC-10.

The Endura 4 wave has the advantage of being cheaper, but I just am not thrilled by the blade design. Emerson waved knives just look better to me, but at cost.

So what do you guys think? I'll take any other recommendations too in regards to waved knives.

The waved Delica looks good to me. It seemed a little small at first, but gets everything done and is light enought to be clipped in a waistband. I'm not crazy about the Endura blade either.

I have an Emerson CQC-13 and the wave is a bit different than the Spydies. You have to pay a little attention for it to deploy. The Delica happens by accident. I forget it is waved until I pull it ouf of my pocket and find it opening.

The Emerson wave is shorter and shallower. I'm not sure how the P'Kal compares to the Delica wave, but if you are used to the Spydies, it might feel different to you.

(By the way, the Spyderco wave opens beer bottles.)

get yourself a 550 or 555 grip or minigrip from benchmade(one of the ones with the thumbhole) and put a zip tie on it, you'll never look back. i have a waved delica from spyderco and honestly dont really like the metal wave, its a bit too sharp and eats away at the pockets, the Zip ties dont.

Cheers!

The Endura Wave SE is a great EDC. It has shallow scallops that cut like a PE, except with much better edge retention. It deploys extremely fast and reliably when you switch the clip to lefty, carry it in the right front pocket near the front of the pocket (Pikal style), and it flies open with no trouble. It's SE came hair whittling sharp, and gets tree topping sharp in a couple minutes on the sharpmaker. I am going to send mine off to Krein for a FFG, but an Emerson, especially Krein'd, is a great knife as well, though much more costly than the Endura.

The Endura and Delica waves work better than the Emerson waves, in my opinion. Both are fine knives, although I prefer the Spydercos. I, myself, have a D4W which has been my EDC for nearly 11 months now.

I have the Delica Wave. I like it a lot. It's on the small side though.
I thought the blade looked weird at first too, but have grown to like it.

Although it's not really a wave feature, the Boker Plus CLD Subcom, Trance and M-Type (not sure about the Hyper) have large thumbstuds which can be used to catch onto the lip of your pocket when drawn from a tip up position.

I remember when I was still shopping for mine... I thought the blade looked really weird. But when I got it in my hands, it was something different. Now to me it looks like a nice sideways tear drop for a blade shape that happens to have a "hook" on top instead of something rather unbalanced.

Personally, I like the narrowness in pocket of the Emerson, especially the CQC-7, but I'm not a fan of chisel grind blades for an EDU knife. I have a waved Endura, Yojimbo, & P'Kal. The P'Kal's the best, however, the "trick" to the wave feature, IMHO, is to have the wave forward. Unfortunately, you can't do that with the Emerson unless you drill/tap a clip for the other side, plus you have to deal with the right handed nature of the liner-lock. Because of that, I think a waved Delica or Endura, with the wave forward, are great EDU/EDC knives.

Right now I've been carrying a ZDP Delica. While I usually prefer/like the bigger blade of the Endura, I have to admit that the Delica is an easier carrying folder (In both weight & size, including width) & the PE ZDP-189 blade is incredible.

Anyways, in answer to the OP, I don't think you'll find anything that'll wave open like the P'Kal.

why would setting up an EKI for LH carry be any kind of "trick"?

i just sold a horseman that would serve all your EDC needs.

Well have some researching, seems like most Emerson are right-handed carry only, with left handed carry options being limited and more expensive. Seems odd to completely screw the left-handed market...

Getting the Endura 4 Wave for now, wish there more wave options...

No holes on the other side...

oh as far as LH carry goes? all ya can do is get them drilled for that by someone or do it yourself, i dont think they do LH models at all, but being RH i havent really looked for that.

the waved spydies are great for the money but i would prefer most any EKI to one of them, i dont do FRN anymore, not that FRN is bad, but i just dont care for the looks myself, i also prefer most any EKI handle/grip to the spydies.

hahah, interesting idea.

I EDC a delica wave, love it. The only time I don't use the waved function is when I'm wearing dress pants/slack. Otherwise, they have never messed any of my dickies/denim. It works awesome as a bottle opener and since the steel is harder then the aluminum, there's not a single scratch on my knife.

The pikal does feel a little smoother, but the delica 4 has a more versatile blade.
