So, which one should I get? I've had the ZDP Leek, and it was really cool with the Speed Safe, but ended up trading it for something else. I really had no problem with it, but was hoping for something maybe a little flashier. I do want the ZDP steel, so the Spyderco Caly and Kershaw Cyclone both fit the price range.

So, all things considered, like quality, sharpness, ease of deployment, good looks, exclusivity, whatever, Which one would you choose?

My typical EDC use is quite mundane, in an office environment, (though size is not a limiting factor) so it can be a little more delicate, but I also like something I can use in the kitchen, and apple quartering ability is a must, as I live by the old adage an "apple a day..."

If there are others out there with the newest super steel, or similar, I'm open, as long as it fits under $200. For example, I've heard of G3 laminates, or something like that.

I recently acquired a Kershaw Mini Cyclone, and this knife is incredible!! I am very impressed with it. I normally DO NOT buy production knives any more; but am a sucker for a titanium frame lock & ZDP-189!! Get a Mini Cyclone!! Trust me, you WILL love it!!

ive had my zdp mini cyclone for a few months now-its my work edc-
blade steel is great, handle shape is nice and the overall package is a total no brainer-
imho-its the best value on the market

I bought ZDP mini Cyclone about two month ago. Great package: Ti, ZDP, frame lock, AO. It has everything what knifenut can dream about, but handle is too small for may hand(middium/large size). I cannot hold secure this knife, so it is end up in my desk and most likely will be sold shortly.
One of my favorite EDCs is G10/VG10 Caly3. In my opinion, it is one of the best production knives ever made. Full flat groung blade, low riding wire clip, great ergos, jumpings on finger. Great knife.

BH49 - I noticed in your signature line a mention of a Spyderco ZDP Lum Chinese. Is this just a dream, or is there a plan to make this knife?

I'm actually still leaning toward the Caly III, as it's a bit larger than some, even though I have a thing for titanium frame locks.

Still looking for opinions...

Daniel

Hopefully this fall Spyderco will release new sprint run 1200 pieces of Chinese folders. ZDP189 blade steel, black handle. try to pre-order from less known dealers, but may it is too late. NGK had waiting list 200+ people a while ago. It is supposed to happened last summer, but was delayed.
here is more information

Good luck

I love my Cyclone, it's everything Kershaw made it to be and TKC says it is.

I HAVE been waiting for Spyderco to make the Carbon Fiber/ZDP Streatch, though. Come on guys, make 'em!!

Hmmm--from these responses it sounds like I'll have to check out the ZDP Cyclone. I've been EDC'ing the black ZDP Caly Jr. for a couple of months and EDC'd the burgandy for about a year before that and I love both of them. I have no problems recommending the Caly, but I don't have a Cyclone to compare it to. ZDP has become my new favorite steel since getting these. I guess I should've pre-ordered the Lum when I first heard about it last year.
