You can tell from my 0 post count but 2012 start date I am a long time lurker. However, I am hoping someone can help me...

I have a son who is graduating high school in a few weeks. He hand I have both always enjoyed production quality knives; Lone Wolf, Kershaw, Boker etc.

I would like to get him an heirloom quality knife for a graduation present. However, I am not sure where to start looking. My son is a young man that truly appreciates craftsmanship. He is a hands on guy that understands the time and talent necessary to produce a high quality hand made item.

I would like to provide him with a gift of a “gentleman’s pocket knife” that he will be able to carry in his pocket as he progresses through life.

I am looking for suggestions for something that is available on relatively short notice (3-4 weeks max) and costs $1000 or less.

I would appreciate and suggestions or further questioning to help with my search.

Thanks for any help.

whereabouts are you located?

I'd contact Plaza Cutlery, they'll know the makers in your area. A google search of makers in your area brought up some options, too. It's good to deal with a knife maker close to you, especially when you're first getting your feet wet in the custom knife world

Also take a look at the Knifemakers For Sale Area, folders or sale area, there are some really nice knives for sale there and reasonably priced as well.
