Hello, I tried convexing Spyderco tenacious, and went through 4-5 different grits of sandpaper, and the tip was extremely sharp, but the rest of edge would shave , but not nearly as sharp as tip.I used a mouse pad, and couldnt get lower angle on rest of edge, and tip is thinner so it got very sharp.Should i Use leather under the sandpaper and low angle, or is there some other solution. Thanx

To get a lower angle on a knife, I place my mousepad and sandpaper at the edge of a table. That way the table doesn't get in the way of my hand when I bring the knife to a low angle.

Me too, gotta have that thing right on the edge of the table.

I also like using a National Geographic magazine as my pad. It is firmer than the mousepad and makes for a less cured convex. Any similar glued-together heavy magazine would work I suspect (fashion magazines and whatnot)...the one with thick heavy glossy pages. My mom does a lot of crossword puzzles and those books have newsprint. They are cushier and I may give one of those a try sometime. You put the spine to the back and place the edge of the pages right on the edge of a flat surface.

Also be sure to clamp down your sandpaper somehow. If you just lay the sandpaper on the pad (whatever pad you use) you can get some curling up behind the stroke and round over the edge a bit.
