Hey all,

I was wondering if you could recommend me an axis lock folder.
I have a mini grip (555shg) currently and love the axis lock.

But the blade isn't my favorite. I tend to favor the thin blades with full flat grinds like on the Spyderco caly3 and sage. Or the dejavoo.

I'm looking for something w/ a blade no longer than 3.5" that's a really nice slicer with an axis lock.

The 707 and the one with the dagger shaped blade (can't remember the model) both have thin blades

Have you tried one of the new Hollow Ground Griptilians?

Real good slicers!

Are we talking slicer as an EDC, or slicer as a kitchen/food prep tool? The 550HG is a good option, the modified sheepsfoot blade lends itself to chopping and so on.

This would be for EDC. I cut a lot of boxes and styrofoam. I have a hollowground minigrip already and it's not as good as the caly3 or dejavoo when it comes to my cutting chores.
I suppose I could always have something reground. :)
Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I don't know why it didn't occur to me before - the Ritter Griptilian.
Anyone have any experience with that?

I just snagged a BM Harley Davidson Mini HardTail and must say that other than the skull engraved on the handles (which I promptly removed) I think its the best BM I've owned to date out of many that have come and gone before it. You want a great little slicer I'd say look no further. The D2 blade has an edge and primary grind geometry that are perfectly suited to thin slicing anything from your regular kitchen food prep slicing and dicing to whittling hard wood out on th back porch with the grandkids.

In many ways this is a modern day version of a 'mini Buck 110' only with an axis lock on it combined with a nice ambi thumb stud and pocket clip!

I have a Benchmade Snody resistor auto that has been my edc for years and I love it. Sadly it has been used hard and ready for retirement but I recommend it highly. The blade design is great.

Quite a bit. The 3 that I currently have are among the sharpest folders that I have, very similar to my VG10 Caly 3, not quite as sharp as my ZDP Caly 3.

I think a Ritter in either size would work very well for what you want. They can be made extremely sharp. BM does a good job on the Ritter blade profile.

I think the 940 is your best bet, it is really thin and light. I don't have one but that's the best slicer that I can see. It's not even close to a leaf shape blade, but the knife should be thin enough. Get the 943 for a splinter picker tip too.

Or if you just want one of the most well rounded best designs on the market, get the 14250. I have the 14255 and I love the way the handle puts your hand as close to the edge as possible, and it's got a long thumb ramp so choking up on the blade is easy (actually it's almost designed so you do that all the time).
Excellent use of blade and handle length, and in the drop point model it's one of the better utility knives out there (I got the tanto and kind of regret it).
