Hello BF,

I'm looking for a new backpack. I want something made of high quailty materials that handle a 15in Laptop and IPad at the same time, and can handle EDC items. Something along the lines of a Chrome or a North Face.

Little Extra Info:
I'm a college student that walks a few miles everyday to school.

Thanks in advance.

Check out the Osprey Quantum, I've had mine for a little over a year and half now and really like it, good size lots of organization, two padded laptop/water bladder cases one larger (15-17" laptop size) and one slightly smaller (more than enough room for an Ipad in a case). Good padding on straps and back. And an excellent warranty on Osprey products (I have 3 of their packs). Before I found this one I was looking at TNF and Mountain Hardware packs in the same size range, but the organization, warranty and quality sold me on this one, its my EDC pack so I have it with me everyday and besides the "Osprey" on the handle rubbing off a little I can see no wear at all.

My get home bag is a Patagonia Fuego. It blends into an urban environment nicely while still being a 32L bag capable of carrying my neccesities. It has a padded, divided off area inside for a laptop, and a smaller sleeve inside the main compartment, yet on the outside of the bag which might be able to hold a tablet.

I recently purchased a GR1 from Go Ruck. Crazy-awesome pack from an amazing company. I am now selling every other day pack I own on Craig's list.

I'd write a full review but there are so many better-written reviews out there already.

Bottom line: If you want a business-looking top loader then go for the Bihn. If you like panel loaders and want something that is equally at home in the office or in the field get the GR1. If you want something tacticool then go with a TAD, Mystery Ranch (or Camelbak trizip) or Kifaru.

Buy a Tom Bihn Synapse 25 for $170.00. Best organization of pockets out there, elegantly bombproof. Lifetime warranty.

The Go Ruck is 295.00. Superb quality for sure, but do you need 125.00 more, with less organization pockets?

I considered both and bought the Synapse 25. Plus, they make a Dyneema version for the same price that is lighter yet.

Both are USA made.

Take a look at the North Face Surge. I now use it in place of a briefcase in an urban professional environment. Great compartmentalization, well padded, carries easily, ~ 2000cu. in. capacity. To further lower is profile, I blacked out all the white lettering and reflectors with black permanent marker. I also had two Fastex lash patches sewed to the bottom. It also holds my GHB requirements.

Tom Bihn. And I like their indestructible lightweight material they use.
