Looking for an EDC-Multitool

Hi,

I've been carrying a Spyderco Tenacious PE as my EDC blade for a year now, but now I'm looking for a little bit more. I'd like a Multitool with...

... roughly the same dimensions as the Spyderco Tenacious
... Belt clip
... Minimum tool set: pliers, PE blade (one-hand opening from the outside), bit-holder
... Price range: 100$ max

I intend to use it mainly as a Pocket-Knife (replacement for my Spyderco), but some light-to-mid duty use of the other tools as well.

I've been looking at some Leathermans, and the Skeletool CX (I really prefer a PE blade, and the newer non-CX have a 1/2 serrated one) seems to be perfect, although it's close to my financial limit.

Do you have any alternatives you would recommend?

Best regards,

Sounds like you hit the nail on the head with the CX when it comes to what you're looking for. You should be able to find it under $70 easily, nevermind only under $100--and that's for the CX.

The Skeletool is nice and light (relative other multitools at least), compact, blade is a good profile (not overly thick but you'd have to work to break even the tip off), you've got either the clip or the carabiner as an attachment point, bit holder with a slot for another spare bit makes it adaptable to your uses.

The only downside to the CX is the pocket clip is pretty bad. Mine bent pretty easy and soon became useless. There were a few users grumbling before about them losing the tool do to that. Other than that I quite like it. I have an older plain edge CX. When the clip failed me I tool to clipping the carabiner part on my pocket instead.

Ok thanks guys, I'll just get a Skeletool CX as I had intented. Thanks for your answers!

Best regards,

If your not happy with that you could try this....

Thanks for your recommendation, Fingerblade, but the Wave seems to be too much for what I need. I'll post again once I got my Skeletool and tell you whether I'm happy with it or not.
