OK, I like to take care of my knives, but I'd like to have a folder that still looks good even after years of being carried in a pocket along with change and other hostile pocket items. Is there a knife you know of that doesn't get scarfed up looking with less than optimal care?

I'm thinking that something with a hammered finish might look ok...

Thanks

Bone handles don't normally get scratched, even after many years. Instead they wear down to a softened broken-in look.

Carry a bone handled knife in your pocket with keys and coins for 50 years and it will look like this:

The blade should not be exposed in your pocket, so don't worry about the blade finish. (But a coated blade will show scratches from use over time, so if that is a worry to you, don't get a coated blade.)

FRN is relatively impervious to the effects of other pocket occupants.

Plain Sebenzas tend to look better after they've acquired some scuffs and scratches.

i agree i like the worn and used look ive seen on some plain sebbies its always light because not much scratches titanium..

same thing holds true for the benchmade model 42 i just love that knife (i own 2 weehawk 2 tanto and 1 bowie), but its probably not your style even though it does have the strongest locking mechanism on the market :D

slippies look vintage when scuffed but why not a pocket fixed blade like a RAT izula? if it gets scratched just strip it and the chord wrap can always be untied.

A big +1 to that! My lil' Sebbie is looking better and better every day.

I'd like to add, any knife looks better with the marks that develop from honest wear, IMO. Just get what you like, and use it how you want. It won't look like new after a while, it'll look better.

It's all in the eye of the beholder... I think some scratches give the knife character. After stripping a pocket clip screw, Benchmade sent me a new clip with the new screws. I put it on and thought the knife looked silly with the new clip and put the old one back on.

Note the missing screw, I took this picture before they sent the new screws and clip. But see how much character the knife has with the banged up clip? I love it.

The second picture shows how the blade looks after a few years of hard use. I love that knife and its scratches (the scratches aren't as bad as they look, the flash really brought them out).

OK, guys. I'm trusting you all on this one.

I just ordered a large Sebenza with the "ECHO" CGG. It does look like a nice knife, and it will become my EDC.

Thanks for the help! :D

A knife is a tool, I think they look good on any knife oonce it gets worked in. Just get the knife that you like most. I think a sebenza is a good choice, so you should be happy. Hopefully, you are able to actually use it.

anything is gonna scuff with use and being carried, ya just gotta get used to it, some folks think the scuffs give it "character", to me they just make it look like an old knife though lol, a lot of my fav knives have either ti handles (spyderco ti ATR or EKI CQC12) or ti bead blasted bolsters(my custom emerson CQC13) both of which scuff, so it doesnt bother me much anymore, imho it doesnt make 'em look good though.
