I found this recently and have never seen or heard of one before. Google search helps not at all. I posted it to the Facebook Axe Junkies group with no results. Has anyone seen or heard of one of these?

Judging by the shape of the eye and stamp it's got an 1800`s look about it

One more time, just hoping that someone has seen this or know what it is. I have looked online, posted it here and elsewhere and so far come up empty.

It seems like there is nothing about this brand that's readily available on the internet, not even another example that was sold or pictured somewhere.

My guess (based on very little) is that it came from American Axe & Tool, since it reminds me of the
MANHATTAN AXE CO. brand that was made by AATCo.

Perhaps it was from a limited run (a single order?) for a private label/ house brand?

I'm with you in theory. I have had a few of similar style, and knowing nothing else about it, to me at least it feels like an old Northeast maker.

I've done as much looking as I am readily capable of and presented it to many others. If those efforts have come up empty and Steve Tall can't get a sniff on it, I'm satisfied.

Based on this, it will likely be a keeper. Usually, very rare items are worth much more than the most rare items. Unique or unknown stuff isn't as desirable simply because nobody knows about them. In this case, it is likely worth more to me than the cash it might bring.
