So fellas and ladies,

I am new to this forum, but a regular at Bushcraft USA and Survivalistboards, and I am no stranger to blades, they are one of my favorite things, each it's own work of art. As the years have blown by, I have learned what I like about knives and what I don't. I have no tools to make knives nor have I ever attempted to, but alas I am at an impass. I own tons of knives and yet none of them are exactly what I really desire, some are much closer to ideal than others.

So my problem is I really want a specific knife and I see it in my head clearly, yet I lack the skill, know how, and tools to create it.

So I will start here, I am looking for a Blade Crafter to create or allow me to work with them to create this vision I have.

Here is a link of the closest production to my vision,

I love this knife design, however after seeing the tang design, the immense size, and handle I am left wanting something a wee bit different.

Keeping the image in mind of the Red Rock Raptor, I am looking for these more specific specs,

7"-8" Blade length,
5" Handle length,
Full Flat Exposed Tang w/lanyard hole(s),
3/16"-1/4" thickness,
Scandi, Convex, or Sabre grind, possible Full Flat,
1095, 5160, O1, H1, or A1 steel,
Micarta Handle Scales with Bow Drill Divots,
Finger Choil,
Light Thumb Ramp Jimping,

Anyone out there who can help me out? I am in no super big hurry as I would likely need a little time to put funds togather for this blade, but I am looking foward to either doing business with or working with an Oregon maker (no offense to you who are from elsewhere, I would just like to keep jobs and money local).

All responses are welcome, and there is plenty of wiggle room for suggestion and creativity.

Thank You Everyone.

I can personally recommend Bill Siegle. He works primarily in 5160 with micarta handles.

Most of his stuff is differentially tempered and super tough as well as SHARP.

He lives near Portland and is a super nice guy to boot.

J.

Well that is kinda close not 100% but a very good start. Basically looking for a minituare sized kukri with a few bushcrafty features. I am accustomed to carrying around a Tops Firestrike as a part of EDC so I am looking to maintain that same size and weight group, I would just buy a normal Kukri but I would never carry it, so I want a smaller scale design for EDC. I am out and about in the woods often, and where I live carrying a large knife isn't restricted. I love my Firestrike but the chopping ability leaves a little to be desired and that is where the Kukri style blade would excel even if it was somewhat miniturized.

Those are some beauties. I have some friends in Medford we visit a few times a year, I would be interested in maybe visiting sometime, and it would be a big plus if I were able to help make it. I will drop you a line on the E-mail sometime after the new year when life gets back to normalcy from the holiday rush.
