looking for assisted openers that don't use the linerlock

check out several of Kershaw's knives. I like the Shallot, myself:) Nice frame lock:thumbup:

Kershaw OD-1. Not AO, but a flipper framelock.

BTW - $40 at Walmart.

The list price is higher but you should be able to find a ProTech Ciabatta for about that.

Some Leek's are framelock. Some are linerlock. I have a Random Leek and had a Composite Blade Leek that were framelocks. I have an aluminum scaled Leek that it a linerlock.

I probably sound like a Benchmade sales rep, but the Barrage 580 is new for 09. The regular has a 3.6" 154CM blade, (I've seen them for as little as $90), and it is the first BM knife with an assisted Axis-Lock mechanism.

Very good looking knife. Also comes in mini version at 2.91".

Sog trident has AO and the arc-lock, which is similar to BM's axis lock. Can be had for around 60 dollars.

The Kershaw OD-1 is a "Flipper" but as easy and fast to use as an A/O. It also happens to be a frame lock. Nice knife for $40.00!

Just played with one at Wally World 30 min ago. Kinda small for my hands (I apologize for not mentioning the size consideration before), unnatural hand position to open it, anemic opening, uncomfortable flipper.

But, definitely the step in the right direction. I wish Benchmades and Spydercos had flippers.

I had a BM Griptilian with the Axis lock, and could open that sucker fast as heck just by pulling the Axis button back and flicking my wrist. Open or closed it was a lightning bolt. You may want to take a look in that direction?
