Ok you all are going say I'm crazy. Why do you need a backup knife. Well here is why. I chose not to carry a firearm. So I only carry knives I've trained with knives I can at least defend myself for a minute or two till the attacker pulls out a gun then I just run. I'm now carrying a zt200 plain edge before that I carried a benchmade 741 onslaught with zip tie mod but I can't really pull out the zt200 or onslaught in public to cut something you guys/gals know what I'm talking about somebody get slightly scared and ask why you are carrying a bigger knife that's why I carry a secondary I currently carry a piranha fingerling but I'm looking for a new knife to replace the piranha the reason why I posted this

I'm looking for a good knife that is under $150 with plain blade no serrations ecept spyderco i like there serrations please I do care about blade steel no crap steel please unless it has a good heat treat them that's ok

I know it was a little long but I do not like to edit

P.S I KNOW I SHOULD CARRY A FIREARM I CHOOSE NOT TO!!!!!!
AND NO HATE COMMENTS

What are your throughts on the spyderco endura 4 ss combo edge

H&K Conspiracy doesn't have the best steel but it's a sweet knife and is crazy sharp and stays that way for quite a while.

Or you can get a Spyderco Native or Dragonfly - Both people friendly blades.

Too bad you can't go just a little higher because I have a few knives in mind that have super steel that you'd like.

Or since you seem to like beefy blades and are lacking carrying a Spyderco.. a Manix 2 could be of interest.

I'll second the Dragonfly, specifically the G10 model. It is a solid little knife. It stays the sharpest the longest and slices cleaner than all my knives. Its not my favorite i think, but it is really all the knife i need on a daily basis. If its too small for a backup check out the Sage series. No experience with the Sages but interested in them myself.

^^ I second the Sage Series. Excellent knives.
They feel like a lot more knife than they are. The quality is excellent. And they're all so pretty.

The Dragonfly is a great little blade, or if you want something a little bigger a Delica is still pretty sheeple friendly, especially if you get one in a pretty colour. I have the same dilemma as you though, if I could get away with carrying my ZT 0200 everywhere I would. Great knife.

What about any of the Kershaw Ken Onion knives? Chive, Leek, Shallot? You can get the leek in s30v or composite with D2. Kershaw Double Duty is also a good option because it looks more like a traditional knife than a weapon, it is still one hand opening, and has a lock.

May I recommend cold steel. They have some knives that are 8 inches and under $150. Least the last time I checked. I prefer hand forged knives... MohrCustomKnives.com <This link will take you to rick and tom mohr site. If you contact them, telling them what you want, they might be able to help you out. They are very nice people and take pride in their work..amazing craftsmanship. Cold steel has knives that are good but I prefer, and recommend a knife made in America...Not china,India, japan, made knives. I wish you luck on your finding of a food knife!:D

May I ask why you choose not to carry a firearm?Your choice is your choice but Im curious for the reason,I personally view knives as much of more of a weapon because it takes real balls to defend/attack with a blade than it does with a gun,you get to be up close and personal with the target and see the expression on their face,or do you choose not to carry because of state laws?

I'm happy with a Benchmade Mini-Barrage in all black (the black blade coating is really tough). It is assisted opening and thus lightening quick deployment, and the blade is a hair under 3". I don't carry knives for self-defense (or guns) but only for EDC cutting and stuff, but if I did, it would do the trick.

Fair enough,I personally carry 2 knives as well,one bigger folder,always serrated (rope/seatbelts etc) and a SAK,its got everything I need,very sheeple friendly,cheap and reliable.

I suggest that your backup blade be simple & cheap. Your primary will be your "go to" knife so this one is only kept for one purpose. Even a cheap blade can cut & stab once in an emergency. No need to spend too much on something you may have to drop or surrender to the police.

You can always carry three knives. A main self defense knife, then a backup self defense knife, and then something tiny, like a Spyderco Ladybug or something. Ladybug would be for the less knife-friendly people.

I do carry three knives
Primary is zt200 or bm 741 onslaught
Secondary is piranha fingerling or kershaw needs work
People friendly was a sog micron 2 I lost it now the piranha fingerling fills that roll
And sometimes a cardsharp folding credit card in my wallet
