Looking for Becker Necker alternative.

It's a sad day for Rocky. Since I have joined this group I have become a bit more obsessed with buying blades. I have been searching the forum for necker ideas. The one I like the best is the Becker Necker but apparently the company no longer exists. I am looking for suggestions on a necker with an approximate three inch blade, OAL in the 6 in. range, and a skeleton handle with a drop point. HELP!!!

Hey,
All I can think of is:
Ranger Little Bird (blade is smaller than 3" though)
Strider makes some knives that fit the description, cord wrapped tang, 3" blade, etc..

Sorry, that's the best I could do...:)

Ontario Rat-3

Daniel Koster's Kardas. Maybe he'll have some left after Blade. (or maybe not)

It's a bit short at 5.25", but there's the CRK&T Krein Dogfish. And, CRK&T also has the Crawford Triumph N.E.C.K.
It's not a skeleton neck knife and it's on the small size, but maybe the Cold Steel Super Edge...

One knife that is more of a boot knife, but is an awesome knife, is the Gryphon M10!

On the high-end, I'd also recommend the Strider ED.

Hope that helps...

Buck hartsook.
BRKT mini canadian.
Gene Ingram pocket Hippo.
Charles May FireAnt.

Orion Knives K-2 with the cord wrapped handle. You'd have to get a neck sheath made up, but it's a real comfortable knife to carry and use.

The RAT-3, but its a little larger. The BK-11 is tough to replace I am glad I bought 2 of them. There just isnt another knife that "feels right" in neck carry.

Thanks for the input. Strider looks good but that is way beyond my budget. I need to keep it no higher than $80. I'm still searching for the perfect replacement. I don't even know what happened to the Becker Corp.

What happened to Becker is that their knives were manufactured by Camillus. And Camillus went out of business. Becker may be back, but they have to find a reliable contractor.

Ah, I understand. I may find myself waiting right over here on the edge of my seat until they come back. I just really love that design.

I like the various Newt Livesay neck knives. They are excellent and priced reasonably. Availability is a problem, but they occasionally show up on the secondary market.

Check out Atwood Knife & Tool as well.

As others have mentioned, the RAT3 is a great knife, I love mine. But, it's a little heavy for neck carry.

I will have to go along with Pitdog and suggest the Fehrman Thru Hiker. It may be about $20 more then your budget but if you can swing that extra $20 then go for the Thru Hiker. I have one that I edc'd as a neck knife and it worked just perfectly. It's a little heavy but you get used to it very quickly and the 3V steel is about as tough a steel you could ever want especially for a knife of this size.
You can't go wrong with any of the Fehrman knives.

The Thru Hiker is the smallest one in the picture:

Fletcher, you dog. Now you're just sticking it to me. You should sell me your spare Becker Necker.

Fehrman Thru Hiker is a definite possibility and very close to what I'm looking for. Does anyone know if there is a strong likelihood of Becker making a come back?

My OPINION is, Becker will be back. That may be wishful thinking; I have no facts to base it on.

I have a Thru Hiker. It is a beautiful knife, just large enough for real work, although the handle is relatively short. It is not TOO heavy. The drawback in using it as a necker is that 3V is rust-prone, so you would have to oil it regularly.

I wear mine on my belt, about 8:00, and since I oiled it thoroughly enough to oil the inside of the sheath, I've had no rust spots at all.

Hello, I'm new to the site so I don't know if this is cool or not

(( It's not. Sales offer edited out. ))

But not if I'm not supposed to sell knives here.

Thanks
