Right now the axe I have is an Estwing. It is about 26" long. It really isn't that bad, but I would like something more substantial. The head/blade or whatever is pretty thin and light, so spliting anything is a pain.
Basically I want a big axe, that I can take out camping and cut down and chop up a decent size tree for the campfire. Something that I can cop through a log easy enough, but that I can also use to split the wood into smaller pieces if need be.
I was looking at the Gransfors Bruks American Felling Axe, and it seems to be about what I am looking for, albeit a bit on the pricey side.
Do you guys think this would be a good axe for what I am talking about and also are there any similar axes out there?
Thanks ahead of time.
