Looking for coloured handled knives

Fellow forumites, I'm certainly not yet totally sick of black, but several events have left me pondering the availability of knives with handles other than black.

So if anyone knows of knives which do not employ the black handles or have options other than black, please post it here. Where to get it from is also welcome information.

Just to elaborate, I am more interested in folders, but fixed blades are alright. I already know about the SAKs, the blue Spydie Native and the CRKT Wasp with the blue-black slabs. Not really interested in knowing about stainless steel or titanium handles unless they are decorated or coloured/anodised. Also looking more for production knives, so that leaves alot of custom makers with their stag and mother-of-pearl handles out in the cold. But don't leave them out completely. Just don't really feel like knowing about $400 folders. (ie include them if it is an example of their work going below $300). Olive drab is also out. That is almost as bad as black.

BTW, what started all this is a post in the "For Sale" forum about a PINK Spydie Delica. Would have gotten it for my GF (she has this "thing") except that it was fully serrated. So now, I'm looking.

Hope that gives you an idea of what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance to everybody.

Gigand (I don't know if the name is quite right) makes some of their folders in an array of colors.

That's nice work Chris. Very beautiful.

Glockman: Yep, heard about Gigand knives. I think they were the ones who had the Fred Carter designed folders with aluminium handles anodised in different colours. Red, blue, green, etc.

Check out the new colors on the BM 855. It's a Mel Pardue design. I have one in blue/black and it's pretty nice looking.

kershaw boa, i bought one in all black and have regretted it since. Strange mix of colors, but it grows on you. Hope this is some help. Great knife by the way. Pete

You said that customs and fixed blades were not completely out so he it is.

I just picked up a bunch of burgandy Micarta and will be picking up some in red. I will also be getting some G10 in a whole array of colors. This will mostly be offered on my two new neckers (with contrasting spacers and colored Kydex sheaths), but they will be an option on all my models. The neckers are going to be $110.

Mike, what was that about?

Erik, That pink handled LUDT might just be the way to go.

I'll have to check that out a bit more thoroughly.

Velitrius: I believe you're referring to the Gigands?

R.W.Clark: Nice work. Very nice work. You mentioned G-10 and Micarta in a whole array of colours. Do they have any in violet and pink multi-layer, or just plain violet or plain pink? Is there anywhere one can go to see the range of colours? I might have to start enquiring at the local knife supplier's for a slab to do a mod to my GF's knife.

Thanks to all you folks.

Delta Z - fine folders with anodized aluminum, bone, stag, wood scales.

Well I know that Benchmade has made the 940 in three different colors(red, green and blue), the discontinued Leopard was made in several colors. REKAT has made green Carnivores, Sifus and Carnivore Cubs; red Sifus and Carnivores. REKAT is also getting ready to release the Savants and they are suppose to come in several colors.

These are the colors of G10 I have found so far.

Blue, Red, Green, Blue/Black, Green/Black in 1/8"

Green/Black, Blue/Black in 1/4"

A rep for GE told me that the colors are pretty limitless. Just can take some hunting to find all of them.

Spyderco Ladybugs can be had in blue and red. The Rescue in blaze orange. The Lum Chinese is a bright green. 800 in blue are going to hit the market very shortly. Will probably disappear quickly. Not sure if any/many are for sale, but the Spyderco Navigator comes in blue almite.

There was a thread recently discussing the potential to do aftermarket anodizing of titanium handles/scales. Anne Reeve doesn't think that the standard finish on Sebenzas will look good if anodized, because the finish has so many tiny positions which reflect light. Apparently, all the color seen on anodized titanium is simply reflected light. Would guess that the more highly polished handles of CRKT S-2s would take a color easier than CRK knives. One person who posted said a specialized metal shop in his area had said would charge $25 to anodize his Sebbie. Theoretically, any color in the spectrum should be possible to obtain on titanium handles.

The S-2 is a light gray. The original M16s were a dark gray. There are military and LEO versions of the big M16s now, one is dark blue, the other military green. The CRKT LUSs are a fairly light gray.

Hope this helps a little.

They may have been mentioned already, but the Benchmade Ares comes in your choice of red or green veined G-10. I saw them in a knife shop in Florida in both colors and they're very nice. The colors really add character. That shop also had a red handled Endura. I've seen those on ebay every now and again.
