Its a gadget.
A gadget for poking holes in things in a defensive situation, namely people.

Altho, if your martini was about to die from a lack of olive, I'm sure it would come in handy for getting the last one int he jar.

Come on. . .all of the "real-life James Bond's of the world" needs a "automatic ice-pick" for those rare occasions of being invited to a "tactical party" where large quantities of blocked ice will be present ! ;)

And just think. . .it's almost 50% off of suggested retail !

My first thought is that one needs to pick a good area to use it on, like into the ear, otherwise I can;t see if doing much to stop an attack. Not a good selection unless meet with deadly force.

First of all, that's a damned good price for them.

Secondly, these babies THWACK open with authority, and they lock up surprisingly well.

And they're fun! :)

And I wouldn't want to get perforated with one. People have been killing other people with icepicks for ages, and this piece is MUCH bigger in diameter than a typical icepick, yet quite pointy indeed.

They're cool. I've owned several, and they were all really decent.

Here's my wife's Jazz Runt and her Guardfather IV.

Better than nothing, and its a reasonable price. Low key in that it looks like a pen or scribe of some sort. It might be fun to have. The auto function would make me nervous. I might opt to take out the spring and just snap it open, which I understand you can do. If attacked it would be better than open hands, but it has no edge to speak of. Seems like something to have fun impressing friends with, more than anything practical.

To quote that 1SKS ad: "Truly a conversation piece!"

It is not a utility 'knife' but it could be useful in terminating someone's existence. Actually, the SNAP! of its opening would probably persuade people to leave you alone.

And it comes with the same neat open-top sheath as the S.W.A.T. balisong, which you could use to hold a couple of pens, instead.

:D

It might be useful in areas where a knife might be prohibited. Never seen a sign that says "Icepicks Prohibited". Back in the thirties the mob used to use icepicks or 38 revolvers to kill people not the Thompson Submachine Gun like you would think. The mobs use of Thompsons is more Hollywood than reality

I carry one when I am on duty. I wear it in the pen holder on my shirt pocket. It doesn't draw any attention. people assume that it is a pen, but I figure it would make one helluva last ditch bakup tool.

I wonder how LEO's would view those things? I've had a couple, this design and the previous design that was more like a traditional icepick. They are a lot of fun. I wonder how long until there's a DA OTF Icepick?

;)

Anyone know about the safety on this particular model? I was looking at the pic on 1SKS, but I couldn't figure out if there was a safety or not.

I know previous guardfathers you could slide the clip over the button to prevent accidental discharge, the kind of accident that could possibly hurt very much.

Thanks.

I got one in a trade about six months ago or so, and have been toting it in the pen holder of my briefcase ever since. I figure if nothing else, it'll help me bring that darn white whale ashore...

Professor.

Support the forums and buy 2, hell I want one! And by the way is anyone else freaked out by the IceCreamKidd avatar?

When i saw Eric Blair`s picture above i thought:
Couldn`t it be made to double as a sharpening-steel??

Or is there another sharpening-steel with such a pointy tip??
