The AG Russell knife here at http://www.agrussell.com/hibben/un2017.html was inexpensive enough that I had to try it even in a somewhat inferior stainless. It would make a great neck knife, but the supplied sheath (in leather for some reason I can't figure this one out) is obviously not up to the task.

This is a natural neck knife and I don't know why A.G. didn't see it that way too (comment A.G.?), but I'm wondering if anyone out there is already making a very thin and small kydex/concealex neck sheath for this blade?

By the way, I like this "pinky ring" style handle for places where a dropped knife is a lost knife, like over water for example. Of course a lanyard works too, but sometimes lanyards aren't comfortable, like when your wrist is covered in blood or fish slime.

Check out River City Sheaths for custom sheaths. good prices. Great work.

Hey Matthew...

I can make you something for that blade

Drop me a note..

I'd like to talk with you about a little trade...

I'm not quite sure where you are going with this...

BTW..
" Hint Hint"

Do you recall when you generously offered to send me some free parts for a sheath modification, much to the adulation of forum members in a particular thread? Then, after gaining all that positive notoriety, you didn't do squat?

Do you recall receiving an email from me sometime after the fact that sought the parts you offered? Do you recall not responding to that email? I never heard back from you.

True, you offered something for free and you don't owe me anything. But you sucked up the applause in that thread; for this you should follow through.

This is the explanation.

Mr. 38 year old, your word means nothing.

Hi..

Instead of wasting my time haveing to explain myself I'll just post the email I just sent you...

*Paste*

"Hey Boink...

Thanks for the note..

Yes that explains it..

Now I'll explain my side of it...

Right in and around this time I experienced an email crash (something I seem to have on a regular basis)and lost the entire contents of my mail boxes. What I had backed up was slightly before our conversations.

Now, I had sent out a couple of these kits, whether or not, you were one of them I don't know. I assumed you had since I never heard from you again...
This exact same thing happened to another fellow, who did get back in touch with me and his kit went out.

As to not replying to your email messages, that is quite possible. during this time I believe it was in June or July I can expect to get daily anywhere between 80-100 emails. I try to do what I can,but sometimes its not possible. The miore time I spend on the keyboard the less time i have in the shop.

Try running an internet business of this type and Hopefully you'll find out what its like.

What we have here is miscommunication and nothing more.I apologize for that and the offer is still open.
If you experience these things, you have to follow up and find out what is going on.Instead I read about it in a public forum, try a little communication perhaps.

As far as my word goes,, again I invite you to ask my peers and customer base about the type of person I'am, and how good my "Word" is.

Eric..."

Boink..

If thats not good enough for you,, well Sorry dude..

Eric...

Hi Mr. Boink,
I see from your profile you're kinda new here, a belated welcome to the forums. I am familiar with the sheath work of both Mike and Eric, they are both craftsmen of the highest caliber. In regards to exploring either's reputation for honoring their commitments I would strongly encourage you to not go down that path.
Stay Safe,
Clyde

Every business has satisfied customers, otherwise they won't be in business. And every business has hit some speed bumps along the way. As they say, stuff happens.

All I can do is call it as it happened from my personal experience and perspective. I did follow up once, but to no avail. You see, when someone offers something for free, I'm not comfortable stridently pursuing it. But if that person offers that free thing in a public forum and gains positive attention from having made the offer, then he ought to follow through.

Read your copious explanation. Is that an apology? If it is, then apology accepted.

Hey Boink...

Bionk Scribes

" then he ought to follow through."

I did follow through with my offer, it just may not have been you..

Like I said 2-3 of the kits went out, Free of Charge. I had a half a dozen or so people wanting them.

Whether yours went out or not, I don't remember.. Please keep in mind that this was some 45-60 days ago.Who knows.

As for it being an apology, I'll let you decide that. If you want the kit shoot me your address.

Eric...

You obviously screwed up in my regard; did not respond to my email and now seem unable to take the high road as I extend an olive branch.

Hey Boink....

"You obviously screwed up in my regard; did not respond to my email"

Whether I did or I didn't, I'm trying to explain to you that I don't have my records so I don't know if I sent you anything or not..
You seem to be stuck on that, and can't get past that point..You treat me as if I've burned you for something.

Obviously since I emailed you I had absolutely no idea what you were talking about, but still you want to attack without the benefit of even a doubt, you've got me pegged as some attention seeker. To be quite honest I completely forgot about the entire conversation until your private email to me this morning.

"and now seem unable to take the high road as I extend an olive branch."

An olive branch ?

Heres a few quotes from your "Olive Branch"

"follow through on their word, unlike other folks. Hint hint."

"you didn't do squat?"

"But you sucked up the applause in that thread; for this you should follow through."

"Mr. 38 year old, your word means nothing."

"Read your copious explanation. Is that an apology?"

First off your the FNG around here. You haven't put the in the time here at BF to Bitch about anything..Why don't you climb down from your high horse.

Maybe I should send you a block of some Canadian Cheese instead, it would go along nicely with your Whine.

I don't generally get overly excited by people like you. Within the last 45 + days all you had to do was drop me a note and it would have been handled in one e-mail.Simple as that.

Instead you insist on throwing words...

Ya ain't gonna win my friend.

Going through the roll call of insults takes them out of context. As you explained what you did and how you viewed the situation, I was calming down. I thought things were getting less hot. I guess they haven't. Apparenty, this had touched some sort of raw nerve.

When I never received what you offered and you didn't respond to my email, I figured you were all for the glory and not one to follow through. I figured you just blew me off. So I had a bone to pick. So I hinted. You took the bait.

You had a decision to make. Contact me privately. Or contact me in the public forum. You chose to do both.

Had you contacted me privately only, I'm sure we'd go at it, acheive a resolution, and the very next public post would be all kiss and make-up.

Instead, you publicly made a spectacle of it and you remain grandstanding all testosterone-feuled. What we have is a problem with anger management and confict resolution.

Hey, I am sure you are a very good person. I try to be. Apparently, something fell through the cracks. I'll take it upon myself to offer you an apology.

Hey Boink....

"Going through the roll call of insults takes them out of context."

I didn't take anything out of context my friend, its right there in black and white.

"As you explained what you did and how you viewed the situation, I was calming down. I thought things were getting less hot. I guess they haven't. Apparenty, this had touched some sort of raw nerve."

Again, if you would have taken the time to listen, or email me in the first place, we wouldn't be here now. You ever think that sometimes things run a muck?

"When I never received what you offered and you didn't respond to my email, I figured you were all for the glory and not one to follow through. I figured you just blew me off. So I had a bone to pick. So I hinted. You took the bait."

Yes and my email to you should have cleared that up. Instead, you continue to throw insults, and you've picked the wrong person to push.

"You had a decision to make. Contact me privately. Or contact me in the public forum. You chose to do both."

Yup,, because I'm an upfront person with Nothing to hide.

"Had you contacted me privately only, I'm sure we'd go at it, acheive a resolution, and the very next public post would be all kiss and make-up."

Hey dude, the balls Always in your court..I'm just returning it. I still haven't seen you take my offer several posts up.

"Instead, you publicly made a spectacle of it and you remain grandstanding all testosterone-feuled. What we have is a problem with anger management and confict resolution."

Anger management?

Whos angery? Not me. Grandstanding?,, Remember, you were the one throwing insults, not me.

I tried conflict resolution several posts ago, you just don't get it.

"Hey, I am sure you are a very good person. I try to be. Apparently, something fell through the cracks. I'll take it upon myself to offer you an apology."

Apology accepted.

Before this ends here, theres one more person that needs an apology and thats Matthew. I've already taken the oppertunity to apologize to him privately for throwing chairs and breaking bottles in his post. I urge you to do the same.

Normark, please accept my apology for all the nasty things and insinuation I have made.

Wires got crossed, feeling were hurt and i'd like to work toward reconciliation.

Let's talk about our shared interests rather than differences. We share the business and love for knives and the holding devices of them. We commune in a limited venue apart from certain society-at-large. I've had a fondness of knives for many years, although gotten into it big time as of late.

People hold you in high regard for a reason. I understand that you do good work and stand behind it.

I propose this — let's lift our respective glasses of brew high in the air and clink them together, maybe light up a stogie. And if we meet at one of the shows, let's warmly shake hands and laugh about this, as time will have passed by then.

Hell, let's spread the love even further - how about you providing a sheath for my Polkowski fixed blade? It's my favorite; I'd only be sending it out once Al sends me another one that, hopefully, will arrive soon.

Respectfully yours,

Boink

hey Boink....

Sounds like a plan to me...

I'm just playing around anyway..:)
Gotta give these guys some entertainment once and awhile..

"Hell, let's spread the love even further"

Lets not get carried away..:)

Anytime..Just drop me a note..

Thanks..

Turns out Les emailed Al on the whereabouts of my upcoming fixed blade. This might wind up taking more time that I thought.

Not having heard back from Al, Les said, "this is why I don't take deposits or charge credit cards on orders."

I'd already mailed Al a regular letter; didn't think that he even had email. In the letter, I thanked him for a neck knife he sold me. Maybe this'll jolt his memory and get him to make my new knife.
